Usually the next sizes up are 9x12, 10x14 or 12x15.

    it's appropriate for the room.

center the sofa on the windows and move the other sofa into the space closer.

or center the rug on the fireplace and have the sofas facing each other.

changing things up might be a nice option.

Lyn Nielson doesn't at least the front legs of the couch need to be on the rug?

Front legs of a couch do not always have to be on a rug. Lots of variables to consider for each space and how balanced the end result looks.

I feel I center the couch between the two windows. It will be too close to the fireplace area and the shelves. Then moving the other couch in closer to the fireplace will really reduce the size of the area.

Then just keep it as is and keep looking for a larger rug that you like better. No rush!

Yes, thanks for your help! I will continue to look for a new one o love as much!!

I have a similar issue in my living room. I love my current rug - but I really need a 9 x 12. I still a, looking three years later - but it doesn't seem as important anymore since I've seen many rooms that don't follow the "at least the front legs of each piece of furniture on the rug" rule.

Have you thought about layering rugs in order to get the size that you want? I've seen people use a sisal/jute rug under the decorative rug that they like in order to have the "right" size in the room. Many times, a textural, neutral rug is used as a base layer for layered area rugs.

However, if you don't like the look of layered rugs (or it would create a trip hazard for someone in the home), you can just simply wait until you find a larger one that you love.

    Here's a rug similar to yours in 9 x 12.

But I would suggest something more colourful and a larger ottoman.

Consider a rug without a medallion for better balance and improve room’s overall connection and interest with more varied complementary colors and patterns.

I always find one thing leads to another and if interested, edit bookcases and mantle.

Suggest moving the side table that’s on the left of couch and maybe try between the chairs. Then the couch can be centered and also turn/center ottoman.

then center the rug on the fireplace.

Lyn is right in her recommendation. Not having the sofa and the rug in the right location is throwing off the whole room.
