I'm so pleased!

You may recall that three years ago, I purchased a "previously-owned" longarm. The learning curve was steep, but I love using the robotics to quilt now. I've even done three quilts for friends. What I didn't know, was how I would ever get it serviced. The head of the machine weighs 60 pounds, and disconnecting and reconnecting it - yuck! I went to a quilt shop about 35 minutes from my house to find some fabric for my step-daughter's quilt. They have two big Gammill longarms there, and there was a woman operating them. I talked to her for quite a while before she mentioned the woman who comes out to service their machines. I got her name and number and gave her a call. Yes, she would service my Crown Jewel III at my home for $65! I had just paid $130 for routine service on my little Janome Jem. She came out Wednesday, and she was wonderful. So knowledgeable, and she is a quilter as well as a servicer. She cleaned and oiled the machine and said it was running beautifully. She tightened my bobbin tension and taught me so much. Then she serviced my workhorse Janome 6600 for another $65. As a community service, she services sewing machines that are donated to several thrift shops that are non-profits. Talk about a lucky trip to that quilt shop!

Wow! that is great! service people for machines are scarce as hen’s teeth, at least here, and are near non-existent for some brands.

Keep her name and number with all your important numbers, on the side of the fridge.😀😀

Lucky you, Lois! I had to take my main machine (Babylock Espire) to Valdosta, GA to get serviced - over an hour drive each way, and it cost $120. My mid arm quilting machine is Grace brand and there are no dealers anywhere in Fl or south GA so I think I will have to ship it to Grace in Utah if it ever needs professional help.

I did get the fabric, Theresa. It wasn’t quite what I wanted, but it’s close enough. I was hoping to find an off-white with texture in the weave, if you know what I mean. They all were either solids or the white-on-white type, which is what I bought. I found one that wasn’t too hokey. The pattern she chose has so much background, I thought a solid would be boring.

That is so great you found a reliable, knowledgeable service person to come to your home. I am betting there aren't many people in the whole of the US that do that anymore!
