For starters I'd add shades to the chandelier. Bare bulbs are never attractive for dining unless they are dimmed to the point they appear tobe candlelight.

I think I'd turn the table & add a rug to anchor the room.

I'd select a canvas for over the sideboard.

Yes, turn the table the other way. What would work better is a longer rectangular table or a round table that expands into an oval when you have company.

Not sure why you have one wall painted black. In a tight space, paint all the walls the same. The black wall visually narrows the space. Get beautiful art over the sideboard as suggested and remove items on it as well as the small art pieces on the side wall.

for me you need some sort of rustic vintage sign to bring it out and much less intrusive scaled light fixture. I would turn the table too. I dont think a larger table is better here since you have to keep in mind the doorways and walking around

You need to post another picture with the table turned. It's too wrong this way. Does it expand? Show us the space from the buffet view. W/o dimensions of the room it's impossible to think about table size/shape.
