Last year (Fall '24) I planted a large galvanized tub (with holes) with crocus, small iris, and tulip bulbs (following a magazine layered recipe). I'm zone 6. I placed the tub in the garden and the follwoing Spring, nothing grew. Later in the Spring, I emptied it out to refill with annuals. The bulbs were there (not eaten). Some were withered; some were whole.

If I try something again this year, what do I need to do differently? Does it have to sit someplace different? Thank you.
