This light is a chance to have an understated wow moment in your subtle and beautiful kitchen. I'm not surprised that it is taking you a long time to find the right one.

This is traditional yet fun. You have a lot of square shapes repeated in this space and will benefit from a round, spherical, or circular light. People seem to be going bonkers on linear chandeliers over tables these days, but I think you can do better for your space.

I'm honestly never quite sure what coastal means when it comes to lighting or much else.

What and how will you have bar stools at a counter with no overhang, and too close to a dining table? Are you changing counter tops?

No need for hanging lights over table and island. I assumed you were asking only about table and would use canned over island.

I would not do fabric shades so close to a cooking area. (Then again, I wouldn’t do pillows and a sofa either unless a very washable fabric.)

I too was wondering if this is AI. Who would i stall a new kitchen with only 2 lights in the ceiling. Something about the evenness of the lighting and wall color, lack of shadows.

Definitely AI: ) she created. She'd not be mentioning counter stools with no overhang on an island, that also does not appear as 83", " x 40", which would mean a 15" overhang not even present in her pic.

Look also at the relationship of SOFA depth behind table to slider....even if that slider was 8'.

Thanks so much for these suggestions, this is so helpful! I love some of the cone shaped shades. I have been going back and forth trying to decide if I should put lights over the island and the table .

We don’t have our table and seating yet so I used AI to help me create a visual and put something like I plan to get in the space . I added the actual photos below . I added a video too but I am not sure this site supports video.

-there is an overhang, AI just took it out . Sometimes it has a mind of its own.

-We will have 4 can lights they just aren’t all there yet .

Can you post an overhead drawing of your space? You need to consider the entire lighting design in this room. Where will all of the recessed lights go?

How much space will there be between the sofa wall and the island countertop edge?

You have to get a fixture that is the right scale for your actual space, not just an AI rendering of your space. As you can tell from it chopping off your counters, it isn't giving you a realistic idea of size.

I added a photo of the actual space and added the length for the back wall.

I don’t have an overhead drawing but do have the floor plan but a wall was taken out . I will add it in case it is helpful .

We will have under-cabinet lighting .
The electrician will be back to do the can lights . I would love suggestions for those.

If your actual space turns out anything like your rendition, it's going to be gorgeous! When I first saw it and thought it was a completed space, I thought it was too bad that you didn't add can lights over the table instead of adding a light fixture. The space is so open, the view out the window is (hopefully) beautiful, that I thought a light fixture hanging down will just mar that feeling. l'd add a couple of pendant lights over the island (or not) and can lights over the table.

If you ever want to search a visual just copy the image and go to Google - then click on the camera icon by the search bar and drop the image in there, it will search for the image online and show you where to buy it etc - very helpful

Because the table isn't all that long @ 68" , and the visual effect of two side by side hanging pendants IS linear,more logical over the island, and is missing ONLY the connective bar or arms between the two... ( and you don't want more than a 12" -14" width on those )

Change the "visual." is the point.

A 24" /26" diam chandelier will very effectively light the dining table. Another rectangle right next to a rectangle island.
