Better late than never? Our fall garden is shaping up nicely, some pics below...

It has been an excellent garden year here. From the healthy 7 plantings of sweet corn, the 2 plantings of tomatoes, the beans, squash, carrots, butter head lettuce, and now the early fall broccoli is starting to head.

The watermelons grew like a jungle and Charlene tended to produce about 5 fruits per plant with the largerest close to 40 lbs. Ole is extra sweet. Jubimax made too many fruits on a vine and are not big enough. On tomatoes, The Pink Brandywine Suddeth strain are the nicest I have seen. Pink Girl is loaded.

I have not dug the spring planted potatoes yet but a sample shows more tubers but not the extra large of last year. The sweet potatoes are like a big jungle...never seen such. I will dig them in about 3 weeks. I have O'Henry yellow [my favorite], orange Yellow Jewel, and Diane.

This mess below are the Sweet Potatoes, the bare ground is where the mother plants were dug up, will dig the rest before 1st frost...

Thanks Richard. The Broccoli plants are getting huge now and there's still no sign of little heads forming. To me this is very good news which means the heads will also be very large as they develop in the coming weeks. Same goes for the cabbages. We're getting a nice rain today with cooler temps in the low 70's next week which will help the process. Turnips will be the first to harvest soon as the Collards shape up. The Carrots have at least another month to go. Also glad to see the tropical storm veer away before coming up this far, but the extra rain won't hurt.
