What is this bar table used for? I see you have counter seating within inches. Do you have a dining room? If not definitely lose the bar table and get a proper dining table. If yes just lose the table. They were a unique fun fad for about a minute and it's over.

We do have a dinning room table and a kitchen counter with bar stools. We most eat here so we can watch tv

Buy a table that will hold 4 placesettings along with 4 chairs. What you have now is too small.

Normal height table and more space. Go rectangular. Consider what will fit centered under this light.

I would move the light/electrical so I could fit a slightly larger table that doesn't look squished into the corner. I also dislike bar height tables and chairs in a home.

I would replace the bar height table with a regular 30" high rectangular table.

No other activity really… there is only 2 of us in the house

You'll have to show more of the space from different angles. Are there more pillars? Are they decorative? A dimensioned floorplan would also help. If you make it to scale, scaled cutouts for furniture options can be moved around the floorplan to test arraignments.

Lovely floors! This picture angle makes the area look huge and empty. (Maybe that is deceiving.) It looks as though there is a door to the left of your high top - why set furniture there to hinder use of the door?

Have you considered a piece of furniture in the spot behind the couch? A rectangular table with chairs on just one side? A credenza? Small armchairs and a little table? Something else?

Unfortunately I am not good with home decor and it’s so hard for me to figure out home style the house. I have so much space in the house that needs filling and thought I would do it a section at a time. Let me send a few more pics. The kitchen space is very large.

from the pics, looks you have nice big rooms. Looks like you could move your living room peices, rug etc closed to the fireplace/tv wall. Maybe new table and chairs centered on the middle archway area so you can still see the tv.
