Help me! Shower sill

last modified: 4 months ago

Help me with shower sill color. My bathroom vanity is green with champagne bronze faucets and Metallica mirrors. Pine floors. Green wall tile installed this week. I will be using black plumbing fixtures instead of gold. Hard to find gold in configuration I wanted and gold disappeared in green tile so went with black. Enclosing shower with glass doors with black hardware. Here is my dilemma....contractor has brought black granite for shower sill and niche base. Is this going to look to stark? I am not sure it will be cohesive with the vanity side. Wondering if I should run out in the morning and get a white or cream piece to use for the sill. My vanity top is viatera clarino quartz.

Use the counter material for the threshold and niche base . You are showing a green tile for WHAT "wall," the vanity wall? The niche? The penny tile is shower floor? Why is that not already in place?! What is the waterproofing?!

The niche has no reason to be highlighted with green tile, repeat the shower wall tile on the back of niche.

Bottom line is I see no reason for the green tile.......anywhere. Return it and paint the walls. It's too much going on : )

The vanity "green" is an accent to neutral. Paint, towels art add more green......no to the green tile both for color and shape.

    I don't want to pile on......but

What were you going for here?

The pine floor is very nice with the green vanity, The counter and penny tile with shower walls? Fine

    The "Metals"

I'd want the lav faucet to match the shower plumbing.

You want a brass accent? Use it for cabinet hardware and mirrors, and towel accessories.

The mirrors? Share no flavor with ANYTHING except they are black.

    And again......what is the waterproofing?

    " And again......what is the waterproofing? "

Jan, I see the Kerdi in the back of the niche and on the curb so that would be the waterproofing. Assuming all detailed properly behind the tile but who knows at the least they have a quality waterproofing system.

Thanks to all. Ordered quartz curb this morning, so not using black curb. To clarify, the shower pan is schluter and walls are goboard. The floor was done first as it should be. The shower floor is covered since they are working on the walls now.

Cardboard over the tile floor JAN MOYER. We need to assume the detailing is correct but at least the OP has a fighting chance as opposed to many we see here.

The shower is the only place using tile. The shower is recessed across from vanity. No tile at vanity. Penny tile on floor. Niche to be the feather accent pieces. Larger tile on shower walls. Bathroom floor is heart pine. This is a country home, not NYC. Things are constructed correctly it is just design choice was off. Got it covered! Ordered a quartz sill this morning. Thanks for the input!

"Niche to be the feather accent pieces."

Sorry, nothing country there either: )

Save some $$ and return the insignificant and not needed.
