Will catnip survive severe drought?

last month

I had a chance to look at my catnip plants today. I haven't been out to that garden patch in a while because of the heat. None of the catnip plants look alive. They are all dried and shriveled, but have seed heads. We haven't had but a splash-and-dash shower since early July and none in sight for at least the next 10 days. The ground is absolutely dust at least down 9 inches. Will the roots survive and plants return next year?
