yellow chaise lounge or beige?

Hi! I’m debating between a yellow chaise lounge or beige chaise lounge (to replace black chair with striped pillow in corner). Any thoughts on what would look better? I didn’t know if green lamps meant I needed to do beige. Thanks.

I'd probably do beige and then have a fabulous throw pillow - but will the beige clash with the rug?

(feels like a lot of black already to add a significant piece in yellow)

My heart wants to say yellow. Do you have a yellow blanket and a beige one you could throw over the chair that’s there to see which color works better?

Love the chaise, but it's gold, not yellow.

A great choice! How many people do you need to seat?

I'd put the chaise in front of the windows and move the sofa to the solid wall.

Add a few more gold accents in the room. do you need that piece for storage behind the sofa?

get a larger area rug with some gold in it, like a border print, with black, gold, etc.

I'd even paint the TV/Fireplace wall a matte black.

Yellow for sure! I just noticed the art in the background above the boxes. That might look great with the yellow chaise. And the green would look wonderful over there.

Careful about the length of the chaise since the entry to the living room is right there. That's a lot of furniture in the space. What about a smaller, low proportion recliner?

Your visual field contains many large black blocks--fireplace, multiple large chairs, sofa, TV screen,, so yellow would lighten things up more than beige. Consider changing your black ottoman to either yellow or wood with same finish as your sofa table and up and sturdy metal legs.

Have you measured out the length of a chaise, as I’d be concerned about its proximity to the entry. As well, there is a lot of furniture in the room and adding another large piece will make it feel more crowded. Why a chaise vs a chair?

Regarding your question around its color, either will need to be incorporated by adding complementary accessorizes.

Beige will tie in nicely and suggest accessorizing with warm, earthy tones. You won’t be tied down with beige, as accessories are easier to update down the road.

Very good points Maureen! Thank you. Could you tell me where the yellow/gold chair is from? So pretty

I think a chaise will look odd and crowded in that corner. A chair would be a better choice.

Take a look at your second photo to see how it looks to "outsiders" -- a whole lot of big black "boxes." Add a large art work to the right of the TV that has some yellow and is bold enough to balance all the dark leather pieces, TV screen, fireplace (which would look much better if it matched wall color).

I think the chaise is probably too large for the area. A smaller scale upholstered club chair and ottoman would most likely work better in your space (don't have any dimensions - just going by your photo). Green would also be a good choice of colour.

IMO a completly useless piece in a space other than a bedroom and in this case too big for the room anyway.
