I think it looks great! Keep it and think about sometimes throwing a few rules out the window. It makes decor more interesting.

I think the chandelier works. i find the table legs the item that seems out if scale with the chairs. the just seem like stair spindles and under-scaled for the heavy upholstery

Thank you so much for your replies! I think if it was the smaller version it wouldn’t have the impact I was going for (and like!) Definitely more interesting. I have the chairs all pulled out more then usual to help with the scale 🤷‍♀️ lol

The room is definitely large enough for that size chandelier, so you have followed one design rule!

Those rules are suggestions for people who have no idea where to start. Those 'rules" are not set in stone for people who are able to improvise and end up with a balanced/pleasing look.

The light is fine but makes other things in the space appear a bit anemic in contrast. Get some more generous trees instead of the skinny ones by the window. Your art feels hung quite high. Are you tall people?

@chispa Thank you for vote of confidence! @Kendrah good suggestion with the trees! I have some others I’m thinking I could also add to that space but might hang some drapery instead. I’m just 5’3! The one piece is just above the light fixture and the other being above the sideboard I think looks fine. If it were a bit lower it would be even w top of chandelier which I wouldn’t love. Thanks for offering suggestions!

When you said curtains on the windows did you mean the glass door on the far side of the room? Doors don't call for curtains. It seems to look out where privacy isn't a factor so win win. Love the how the curve is repeated in the chandy, the table and the sideboard!!

@arcy_gw I am considering hanging panels on either side of the glass on the wall for effect/art only! So not to actually close. It’s funny I definitely giggled with your comment and have to tell you I am a designer who for the past 4 years specializes in window treatments! Hopefully I won’t mess it up lol @kpyeatt the legs don’t bother me, I like mixing some styles.

Love the size as well as its style. The room really comes together with this choice and it also makes a statement.

Lisa - I always love mixing styles. Just to clarify - the scale is off to me with legs/chairs. But you live there, not me.

The shape of the fixture you selected seems to be fighting everything in the room.

Your trees should be taller. You could purchase a taller planter in order to boost the height of the trees in the room.

Can you change the Kelvins (temperature) of the light? The pictures suggest that you have very low temperature lights in the chandelier. (Glowing very yellow).

The one rule I never break is the area carpet being large enough that when people push back from the table to get up, the legs have to stay on the rug. I hate when you have one leg that is off the carpet and 3 on the carpet.

I would want simple, clean lines on the table legs - you have covered the chairs creating clean lines, the oval table top is simple and clean and the legs feel ornate in comparison.

Everyone seems to hang art too high until someone convinces them that it is wrong.

@BeverlyFLADeziner thank you so much for this rendering! I am going to try lowering paintings a bit, I’m usually good about going lower but perhaps not enough here as it’s been mentioned a few times. After the troublesome hanging of this chandelier then threading 184 alabaster stones, most of which were not cooperating it’s definitely going to be living here for awhile LOL.

@Jennifer Hogan yes the chandelier is on a dimmer, so can go from very dim to ultra bright. Not sure where it was exactly for this photo. I have a larger rug ordered, the room is in a state of a few changes! So funny about the hanging of art, thanks for your input!

@BeverlyFLADeziner I will be replacing this table and chairs at some point, probably early next next year, what would be your recommendation!? Leaning towards earthier colors also like maybe rust/copper. Would love to hear more of your thoughts! I also brought art down a few inches, getting there…

The temperature is based on kelvins - it is the color of the light moving from orange to blue - is it the color of sunlight at sunset or noon.
