Make your fireplace a focal point on the wall going all the way to the ceiling to accentuate the gable. Right now your tv looms over your fireplace so think thru ways to minimize that or place it to the side of fireplace.

Post pictures with the lights on or in daylight. We also need to see the entire room. We can't really see anything now. TV is too large to over the FP.

It would be so nice if we could actually see the wall.

Take new photos of the whole room. Make sure the TV is turned off.

HOLD THE CAMERA STRIGHT HORIZONTALLY.

Better photos, please. Yes, get the t v off the wall, at least for now.

Fireplace is pretty sad looking with the applied stone, topped off by a cheap mantle.

Remove it all, (not hard to do) and start again.

No need to fill the entire wall at all. Go as high in your design as if there is a second floor.

Or, fill the wall with faux panels and do this application.

Yes on new pix. We don’t care to see a picture focused on your tv. We need to see a picture of as much of the wall as you can get in one shot. Turn the tv off, open the curtains and turn on all the lights.

Amanda, thank you. could we see pictures of all four directions? Is the kitchen open to the dining area? is there a picture window on the living room wall?

#1 change will be to move the TV to a credenza or TV stand. A custom build incorporating the fireplace would be ideal, but, is there money for that?

Are you just moving in, or is this ”time for a change”?

Can you add one more photo - stand with the dining area behind you and take a straight-on photo of the wall with the light gray chair and at least one window.

Let me say that you have a lovely home. I am in agreement about making your fireplace the focal point in your room. Removing the TV to a cabinet on either side of the fireplace would work. Taking the stone up the wall as several others have suggested

would go much farther in improving your design than hanging any type of art work or curtains. Good luck. You have been given some great ideas.
