need design help

last month

This is the first room as you walk into the. House. Since we didnt need a full office we did a high table w barstools that we can double as desk or extra eating entertainment room. I wanted an all white and black theme .I also have a combo of vintage piece painted black and high top as shown. The curio is either going or considering having it painted .
My question :
I need a pop of something/, i wanted black and white leopard chairs w small table but having trouble finding a comfortable chair in my price and color. So do i go with a leopard in brown, or white chairs.
Should I wallpaper the back wall or do a black wall where the family pic is. Also thinking of doing big black and white photos on side wall.

Help just want some kind of wow factor and i am not opposed to doing a light wood piece either and getting rid of curio.(came from my old house)

Suggestions please…
Wallpaper?
Black back wall wall (even though i just painted white)
Paint chandelier? (Wasn’t cheap so I took from my old house)
Wall decals ?
Layer black and white animal print rug?

Everything was staying except curio , but want a chair to sit and read or talk.
Showing pictures to give idea of home, not nearly finished with getting rid of some items in living room yet either.
Thanks for support

There are some scale issues in your room. The light fixture is not nearly large enough. The tree is not tall enough for the room. I don't know why you would keep the curio cabinet in this room/house.

I don't know how you acquired the chandelier, but IMO a different design might work better. I know if would be less expensive.

Your room could be so much more

So bigger plant, ditch curio, paint back wall?

The bar height table doesn't do much for the room. I understand the concept of multitasking for a dining room since they are not used as often as before.

Can you move the chandelier to the entry? The link below might give you some ideas.

The first thing I notice is the rug. It’s a glaring mismatch for this gray and black room. Especially since the floor it’s laid on is gray.

Perhaps consider the room’s practicality in the ways you mentioned and how much it will be used. Maybe live with for a bit to see how it best functions/mostly used and then adjust to these needs and its layout, furniture pieces and comfort. Work on a floor plan that is conducive/well balanced. The last step is decorating and suggest looking on line for inspiration. So before going ahead with ideas below, definitely have an overall plan.

A “feel“ of casual below and being multifunctional it will be used more frequently. Consider selling your chandelier or try elsewhere.

I agree with several points here: it seems like you don’t have a clear function for this room, so take some time to consider

what it is you want. I don’t think the chandelier fits here with ant ideas given, most glaringly it is not

Sorry, continue——there is nothing centered underneath it. Also, it may have been expensive, but that’s no reason to keep it if it doesn’t fit with your design. I like the idea of using it elsewhere in the house (master bathroom?) or selling it to provide money for whatever else you need to do. Like Beverly’s third post with chairs and I table. You wouldn’t need all the bookcases, but this are could also provide space for reading or perhaps an alternate TV viewing space with smaller TV.
    Good luck with your choices!

Ok so i can probably move or sell chandelier, get rid of curio but the chest (which holds sentimental memories stays) and the high top was just purchased , unfortunately my husband thought it was great idea, so how can i get this room to what I originally wanted it as, a sitting room
Please help before something else is purchased that just doesn’t fit. (The high top was his thought to use as a desk top and an eating space. I just wanted 2 chairs ( i originally wanted an all black and white room. How do i get on track.

Trace Floyd wont the high top be too tall in front of the window

Thanks for the response. The high top is open underneath and will let light in that way. Technically not blocking the window.

I clicked on the leopard decor link above and saw the two ottomans which would save space if you want seating for four around the game table idea. Maybe two chairs and two ottomans.

Not every piece has to black and white in a black and white decor.

Do you seat 4 at the table? If just two of you, maybe turn it and place it against the wall under the painting, where it would still function as a desk. Then you would have plenty of room for 2 or maybe 4 chairs as Beverly shows. Why not try an animal print rug and get more neutral chairs (easier to find). Leopard or zebra would fit your black and white theme. I would place it under the chairs, not necessarily large enough to also go under the table.

Exactly what i was trying to do, animal print rug n 2 chairs.

Trace Floyd i wanted black n white photos Of my 5 grandchildren but large would that work, and what size would i do? And if not that lol i was thinking a large print of a leopard or zebra or cheetah with white chairs

In my opinion family photos are not a design statement. A hallway or office is nice for them.

An animal such as a Zebra is better than a predator according to Feng Shui.
