For your size space, I'd forego wall ovens and use a range to get the alternative added counter work zone space.

Can't say I have ever seen a kitchen that looked like a sauna!

In my previous house I used dark stained ribbon mahogany with medium wood floors. The stained cabinets complemented the Spanish style of the house and matched the color of the existing beams. West facing windows and french doors, and a large skylight in the kitchen kept it well lit during the day and plenty of recessed lights kept it bright in the evening.

We faivor MCM (thats' partially where wooden cabinets stem from), but style is almost a free page, as we have almost no furnitue and plan to do a large remodel (including floor refinish).

you have nice natural light. I always like to cove with a contrasting option, dark floor, light cabinetry, either wood or painted. A light maple if wood.

SOme people love a dark allwood kitchen, moody... I prefer a light space to work in.

We went today to the kitchen shop to play around with design, and found this combination that seems nice: it is a shimmery-grey laminated MDF, and a Belvedere quartzite for the countertop.

What would be the opinion of the community?

Personally, I hate dark countertops after having lived with one for many years, but plenty of people like the look. Light countertops and backsplash with dark cabinets will be a brighter looking kitchen than one with light cabinets with dark countertop/backsplash.

I also like that it is easier to see crumbs and dirt on light countertops.

Is the cabinet under the oven a paneled fridge or is the fridge somewhere else?

Will you please convert the dimensions on your kitchen into inches? If you don't, you will receive several comments about doing it - people here in the U.S. don't use the metric system (although we almost did) - and people are less likely to take the time to convert all of your millimeters into inches.

How will you vent the cooktop on the island? I personally would hate having a cooktop on my island. I'd rather use a range in the space where you currently have your cooktop in order to have the vent right there on the wall. I have quite a bit of counter space between my sink and cooktop - however, I always prep on my island. When my girls were growing up, they'd sit at the island while I cooked - having a cooktop there wouldn't feel safe to me.

I know that there isn't much room between the sink and the cooktop - and I imagine that is problematic. Are you keeping the same sink? If you used a workstation sink instead, you would be able to gain some work space over in that area.

They have ones with partial cutting boards + on the right side is a dish drying rack that unfolds over the sink.

They come in MANY sizes - from 48" (maybe larger - I've never looked to see if there is a 60" one) down to 15". I've been thinking about whether I'd like a 33" one for my new kitchen.

With a smaller kitchen, using a range is a much better idea than using a cooktop + wall oven.

I personally think that you could find a wood for your cabinets that would work with your floors. I've never seen afzelia wood floors before - they look nice. I wouldn't give up on using wood for your cabinets if that is what you'd really like to have.

@chispa, yes, I agree about the dark countertop. My first color choice was the same as in your photo (white countertop with dark wood cabinets - specifically Sinarp from Ikea). But we had hard time to imagine it with out floor (and wooden table) - did not find any moder looking examples so far.

The cabinet under the oven is the fridge. And we have the freezer in the shed outside - its one of the reasons to remodel.

Also, I like your real kitchen better than the AI version that you initially posted!

I also like your kitchen as is! Grey and brown often don’t work well together if the grey is too cool, and I think what you’re sampling is too cool.

I’m not sure that this is a best practice, but wooden floors like yours that are warm in finish pair best with neutral colors (like your white) or other warm colors. The blues below are touched with green (yellow) more in the teal family than a cool navy, so they look great with your floors, as do the autumnal red and yellow below.

Thank you for your advice, @dani dani! I will take a look at workstations - they are not that popadvertised/popular in Europe, and I converted the floor plan to inches.

I have a question - if you have an islnd without stove or sink - does not it look a bit empty, with a feeling of storage box?

I actually went to "oven in the cabinet" option because of extra storage space, did not know that range saves space.

You’re right about your options. You could put a tall refrigerator/freezer where your oven currently is, and buy a range instead of a cooktop. Or, if you worry about your empty island, you could put an oven over there. I’ve never thought of an island as a storage box. It does not have to serve another function.

Oh, that floor is very nice! The warmth of the color and depth of tone are very pleasing to my eye.

I have red oak flooring stained to a similar depth, and I have light wood cabinets. Not even close to looking like a sauna.

I didn't read through all the comments but did see the pic of gray cabinet and quartize. NO to gray with those floors.

It's an eyeful... I don't think it fits a MCM vibe, you need something plainer.
