Shoji white - our lighting at night makes the samples look off.

Shoji white has looked more beige and muddied in our house throughout the day

Of the two I’d go with Greek Villa, which is lighter, less ”muddy”, and really beautiful in real life. Colors are hard. Looking at a painted sample throughout the day is a good move.

Your lighting at night will make all whites look "off" as It is all coming from the ceiling. You've no lamp light.

The plantation shutters are cutting daylight by 40% so that will affect paint as well.

Shoji will give less contrast between the cabinets/granite/backsplash than Greek Villa. If you want more contrast go with GV, if less go with Shoji. They're both safe colors and would work.

just a vote to paint a few posterboards to check the colors more closely - recently painted my son’s room in greek villa (room faces west with medium hardwood floors and bamboo blinds) and it feels *really white* - should have tested more thoroughly beforehand but i was impatient and had read a lot of good things about GV

I would choose Greek Villa over Shogi white. Shogi white always looks dirty to me.

Your cabinets and granite countertops are lovely. I recommend buying Samplize samples of the three or four colors you are considering.

If you are open to other white paint colors or have other rooms to paint, buying the SW fan deck is worth the money and will save you several trips to the paint store.

You have hit on all the best possibilities. Now it's time to sample. The little chips don't help too much - they get you to the point where you are now, but they won't help you decide. Especially if you're planning on painting more than just this room, invest in a piece of drywall for sampling. I have changed my mind at the last minute after seeing what I thought I was going to use on a two by four foot area. The big box stores sell pieces of drywall for patching walls. They work for this purpose. In our case we got a whole sheet of drywall and cut it into four pieces so we could look at multiple colors at once. The boards or Samplize samples allow you to move the samples around.

If you sample on boards or your walls, be sure to do two color coats and make sure the old color is covered well. Also remember looking at the samples next to your existing wall color can skew your perception. It's better to look at them against a white background.

Sherwin Williams has added some new whites to their line - and the base is an actual pure white (which is not the case for their other whites - which is why many designers prefer BM paint). Kylie M Interiors has a review on them online. The only issue is that they only come in the Emerald (and maybe one other) paint line which is a bit more expensive (although emerald line is on sale for 35% off right now through sometime in October). You might want to take a look at them. They have softer whites also in the new line. My understanding is that the Emerald paint line covers better than the less expensive ones = need less paint.

What Jan said- your ceiling lighting will throw all whites off. I’m guessing they’re a cool white LED, and your kitchen reads warm .

Thank you everyone. I have Samplize order coming with some additional colors. I would love BM Swiss coffee but the painters we are using are only wanting Sherwin Williams paints. So I want to find something close to it
