Small Dining Room Layout/Refresh

Wondering how to furnish/decorate this room. We just ordered a 36x60 inch counter height table and are going to get black windsor chairs. We need a new rug which I think needs to be bigger than this existing one. Where the small shelf is to the left, I think I want some sort of tall black cabinet to provide us with additional storage and tie in with the black chairs… Not sure what to do for the light fixture as the table won’t be directly centered under the light. I added a photo of a light I was thinking of but not sure it would go with our style. I also added some photos of my vision for this room…

Cancel the counter height table/chairs, as they will only make your space appear smaller and more crowded.

Yes, the current rug is too small. For six chairs, an 8 x 10 should work.

I would listen to chispa - cancel the order for the table and chairs. A regular height table would work better in your room.

Do you have a picture of the table and chairs you ordered? I personally like(d) my counter height table.

The table will be handmade and stained this color with simple straight legs. I want to get these chairs.

We wanted the counterheight to act as an island / gathering area as our kitchen is too small for an island.

That is the exact reason I liked my counter height table. I have a very small galley kitchen and the table acted as additional prep space.
