48 inch range or keep the current wall oven/micro set up?

Hi! Should I replace the current cooktop or get a 48” range with 48” hood or keep the current wall oven/micro set up? My current cabinet length along the wall is 127”.

I plan to do green shaker cabinets. I’d like two tone with wood cabinets but may stick with just green.

If I did get a bigger range, I’d do a pantry where the current wall oven is, and then a coffee bar with a couple open shelves for white plates/bowls where my shelf with dishes are. I’d get rid of the open shelves and do upper cabinets, but I have two pillars where my sink is that close his office space and I feel like the shelves make it feel more open.

Thanks!

Also- the reason I want a 48 inch is because I would like 2 ovens. I have a very large family and host holidays at my house. I don’t really need more space in the house as I don’t have kids, I don’t see this as a forever home and hope to rent it out later.

I need storage and the 48 has that small oven. I don’t think I can do two full ovens. Do you think the 48 will be too massive in that space?

Also what do you think of sage/smokier green with wood two tone? And if you like it, where would you put the wood?

You could do something like the Miele 24" XXL. I have the CSO (convection steam oven) in that size and love the size and functions.

Go to a showroom with the 48" range and bring your baking dishes, cookie sheets, etc.. I had the Wolf 48" DF range in my previous house and didn't like the small oven. Most of my cookie sheets and Pyrex did not fit.

If you put cabinets where the shelves are you will have plenty of storage and can use part of a 24" drawer stack to fit a 24" MW drawer.

The Blue Star 48 inch small oven can fit a half sheet pan. It also fits all our casserole pans. The large oven can fit a full sheet pan. With that said how much space on either side of the range will you have if you put in a 48 inch range? Also keep in mind you will need a vent hood to match along with makeup air. Many will tell you to go larger than 48 inches but ours is the same width as the range and has not been an issue. It was like that in our previous house and it wasn't an issue there either. We have cabinets on either side which helps contain any cooking plume.

Here is the small oven on our Bluestar:

Thank you guys. Wow beautiful kitchen! You have way more cabinet space around it so it doesn’t swallow the space like mine would.

I think I’m going to keep the cooktop and oven/microwave stack like it is and add lower cabinets. I’ll have to decide on the upper cabs or shelves and if I’m going to incorporate another oven like the Miele 24. Thanks for that!

A 36" 6 burner range and 2 wall oven will be what you will be thnkful for always. I ran a catering biz from my old home with that and never needed a bigger range

Skip those narrow pull-outs next to the cooktop. Majority of people that have had them have not found them as useful as they thought they would. Just do bigger drawers.

Also do drawers under the cooktop.

Coffee bar should also be drawers, unless you are doing a lift for a mixer.

Do a mix of 3-drawer stacks and 4-drawer stacks for maximum flexibility.

Thank you! I do plan to put big drawers under the 36” cooktop as well.

I want a mixer stand. Sucks I have 2 load bearing columns that can’t be moved so I can’t really change the layout of the island. I’m debating where to put my tall trash and mixer lift. Dishwasher is going to be 2 spots to the left of the sink (like in blue cab pics). Should I do the mixer stand on the very end to the left so I have space when it’s in use? Maybe the tall trash between sink and dishwasher. Or I can put the trash on the right of sink, but I had drawers there for silverware etc.

Just say no to a mixer lift cabinet. Flour and what not will be all over your floor. There are many attachments that you can not use on the KitchenAid mixer when it is on a mixer lift. It is a gimmick. The mixer is hanging out there on a small platform with no counter top to either side or in front. Yes to the trash pull out.

I’ve thought that about the mixer lift- doesn’t seem as functional and would get messy. Maybe I’ll keep that in a cabinet door with drawer on top for accessories or a big drawer pull out idk if there are RTA cabs that can fit that .

I’ll check if I can do drawers on the coffee bar too. I was going to use that to store appliances like instant pot and crockpot- again not sure if they can do drawers with RTA cabs.

@Ashley Quiocho LLC We just keep our mixer on the counter in the corner. I am not going to drag it out every time I want to use it. Plus it is a nice looking appliance. Ours is on a slide mat. Easy to slide it in and out. The picture is of my old mixer. I have a new one that is empire red. Working on fixing the old one. Our Instant pot and crock pot are stored in our pantry.

Good advice already - just a vote to think about those high open shelves, they will get dirty and pulling out a stepladder etc to clean them will be tedious -

FWIW i lived with open shelves in a cottage kitchen, washed every dish before I used it and every 2 weeks or so everything had to come off to wipe down the shelves (i am not a clean freak to be sure, it just got pretty gross) when we moved/expanded our kitchnen I happily gave them up and went with all glass uppers

I understand the posts where the island is cannot be moved b/c they're load-bearing, but if you post a fully-measured layout of the space, we may be able to come up with a better layout than what you have. We might not, but isn't it worth it to give it a try? You're likely spending $$$$ on a remodel so at least look at other options before you pull the trigger on spending so much money on the existing layout that just repeats most of the issues you have now.

In the end, whatever you do is up to you, but at least you will be making an informed decision and will know that you looked at several different options before settling for the final layout.

BTW...I would move away from what appear to be partial overlay cabinets and go with either frameless or full overlay.

Hello again I confirmed all cabs will be full overlay. Here are measurements on the kitchen area. Do you guys like the idea of me replacing my microwave with a microwave/oven combo? I’ll need to get another wall oven as well as this one is old and likely need replacement soon.

Also, thoughts on toe kick drawers?
