Answering in a sideways fashion, if the sun bakes you then I would look into improving your windows! This can be as simple as installing Gila film if your budget is low (made a huuuge difference on my south facing, full sun french doors) or having the equivalent installed professionally.

The other location you want a fan without a light kit. Lighting in that area should be from table lamps and floor lamps NOT from a light kit on a ceiling fan.

I like solar shades for UV and heat control since on a rainy day I can roll them up and I have seen too many ugly films on windows. Fans never belong where food is prepped or served BTW BTW solar shades also give you daytime privacy and allow you to keep the view .FYI that kitchen inspiration is a very dated look , can we see your space as they are now please.

Good idea with those. I’m curious what about the inspo looks dates to you? I have a not cleaned up and cluttered picture I’ll attach just to give an idea. The wall of the “pantry” closest to the kitchen is going to come down. Planning on recessed lighting throughout kitchen but thinking I should probably still have a fixture above the table??
