help- what color paint for this cabinet

last month

Hello! I want to have the small powder room cabinet painted above the toilet in this hall bath. Thinking either white or hale navy????
Please help me decide which color will go best with the wallpaper that is in here and considering it is an upper cabinet over the toilet.
Thanks!!!

If it were me, I’d swap the cabinet for art and lighten up the space a bit, powder rooms generally don’t need much storage

Your wallpaper is a natural grasscloth. The natural wood cabinet looks better than a painted cabinet would look.

Don't paint it. Get rid of it:

All a powder room needs is a full roll of toilet paper, soap, and hand towels.

Find a new paper, or strip and paint.

If you have to paint it? Do white.

We can't see the floor......what is that?

Either paint white or stain similar to the paper (update hardware), replace, or if you have leftover paper there are lots of options. Also find art that is complementary.

IMO remove it it looks awkward there and honestly in a PR not much needed for storage other than an extra roll of TP so at most a small shelf is all you need or a floor standing TP holder . I think PRs are where you can have some fun with decor so for me the wallpaper is boring but it is fine if you love it

It is very large and bulky. Who can reach the top shelf a d what is stored in here?

Did you paper behind the cabinet so it can be taken down? If not, are you up for cutting out recessed shelves in the wall and putting a matching papered door on them?

What is on the wall oppsite the toilet?

I think I would leave it as is, but curious if you might be able to remove the doors? You could have the spare toilet paper in a cute basket on the bottom, and on another shelf something that is appealing to display.

That cabinet should have been centered over the toilet. It looks wonky

I would probably get rid of wallpaper and cabinet.

If you have to leave the cabinet, keep as is. Change out the hardware to something special. I would place an ivy on the top left and let it grow down the left side. Pothos might grow there but if there is no window, hesitate to say fake, but a fake ivy could balance that out a bit better.

Might look at ivy cabinet knobs or something with a green and a rattan or decorative trash bin to go with.

I asked Microsoft Copilot AI to visualize the bathroom (a) without the cabinet and (b) with a "small framed print" which Copilot suggested:

I’m seeing what appears to be the paper was added after the cabinet install?

Wdccruise your AI does look very nice with the art there!

Or… a subtle decorative peel and stick on just the door faces, if you will :) then the ivy and new knobs and a new trash bin.

If you keep the wallpaper you can hold cardboard that is thin up to the cabinet and you could run a paintbrush or roller close to the cardboard so you don't get it on the paper it's a simple step I learned long time ago

You could replace the closed cabinet with lighter open shelves. I have this in a powder room:

I can't remember the film, but in it a character hid his pistol in the toilet tank. If that's what you're using this cabinet for, you really don't need it.
