Knorr tomato chicken bouillon

last month
last modified: last month

I am restricting my calories for the foreseeable future and one of my snacks is a hot cup of bouillon or broth. I just tried this tomato chicken flavor and I like it. Not only is it flavorful, preparing it is almost instantaneous, an important factor when you are looking for an easy nosh because those can be your weakest moments. And it takes time to eat.

I do have canned chicken broth I made myself and it is very good. I think it is a good idea to plan ahead and have various noshes like this on hand.

I also like Goya chicken AND beef boullion cubes. Delicious! I just purchased canned soup...anything under 200 calories a can... eat half for 100 calories a meal. I ignore the salt content, since I work out & sweat it off. Portion control is crucial. Oikos yogurt, no artificial color or flavors, no added sugar. 90 calories each. Raw celery & carrots.

Our local, dive-y Mexican restaurant uses it to make their rice.

I use that Knorr product in cooking— it is one of my secret weapons in the kitchen, along with boiled apple cider and pulverized mushrooms.

When I have watched my weight and restricted my snacks to something like this, I have just felt so empty and hungry that I'd end up eating more at my next meal. I really have to have a snack that will provide some more sustenance.

@Kswl - Tell me more. How do you use boiled apple cider and pulverized mushrooms when you cook? Raw mushrooms?

    empty and hungry

I am still on the introductory, titrating doses of semaglutide, but it is beginning to kick in, and blunt feelings of hunger.

I use boiled apple cider variously to sweeten (instead of molasses, Karo syrup, maple syrup or honey) certain dishes like bbq sauce, some baked goods, or sauces like marinara when theyre too acidic. We also use it combined with Lyle’s golden syrup (made from sugarcane) over pancakes and waffles and french toast. And in many other instances when a hit of concentrated fruit is called for — like in pie filling.

The mushroom powder is made from finely pulverized dried mushrooms. They add umami flavor and body to a sauce that needs one of the other (like beef stroganoff ) without using as much roux as you would normally. It doesn’t replace mushrooms in a recipe can even anlittle can enhance the mushroom flavor of a dish… casseroles, soups and sauces.

Kendrah I took a photo of my braakfast so you could see another use for boiled apple cider. This is shredded wheat, a diced pink lady apple and walnuts with whole milk and a drizzle of about a tablespoon of boiled cider. Delicious and filling— I probably wont eat again until 3 pm.

I bought a big jar of the Knorr tomato chicken bouillon powder. Haven't used it yet, planning on using it at least in soups. Couldn't find it on Costco site, but here's a WM link. Think it was a little cheaper at Costco. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Knorr-Granulated-Tomato-with-Chicken-Flavor-Bouillon-Ground-32-Oz-Jar/229387002 If you want a giant tub (70.4 oz, check out Sam's Club website, only $10.01!

EDIT: think I bought my jar at Sam's not Costco.
