You already know you favor black and white. You have no inspo pics of exactly what "modern minimalist" means to you and we've no idea, either. You will get a hundred suggestions. and perhaps just go online with that palette in mind?

the first thing I’d do is change the pendants to something lighter and brighter, I’d want to tone down the flooring so would add a thin jute or sisal rug under the table in the dining area (not the most practical but i’d need to break up that flooring visually)

FWIW we have the CB2 chiaro counter stool - it virtually disappears and helps to prevent a lot of bulkiness at the island

You have a lot of hard surfaces and angles in that kitchen. To add some softness and curves, choose upholstered dining chairs with smooth, curved lines. The oval tulip table is 70" long from William Sonoma. It comes in a kind of tan wood top, different bases, black marble.

Your photos are awful. Could you add a photo of that panry cabinet in the background that looks like wood? If it is wood , then get a rectangular or oval dining table with modern lines in that finish. A wood table would add warmth and texture to balances out all the cool smooth black surfaces. Then add curved black upholstered chairs like those above but with wood legs that match wood table finish.

From now on, I'm rechecking the reposts. So annoying. I wish Houzz would tell people how to post a Design Dilemma--one thread per subject, photograph all four walls with decent well lit photos. I'm outta here!

Imo, the choice is only table and chairs. No one will prefer using stools when more comfortable dining seat height chairs are right there. And you don't have space for chairs and stools and movement around both with the traffic flow also necessary to go out the patio door. Find comfortable arm chairs with a large table. Add a rug.
