Are you planning to use drywall anywhere, or paint the wood walls? Do the floors match or do you have different wood species there too?

You pretty much have open concept already. It would be quite expensive to tear down walls to make the space more open.

What is behind the door on the left? If it's a closet, you could move the fridge there so that you can have a much longer island right to the door frame. Right now, a longer island extending would make it impossible to open the fridge.

You have provided no information about what happens on the other side of the kitchen. Where does that door go to? What is that open area?

You want some ideas, you have to supply complete info on the room.

You post a drawing with dimensions , of the living floor as it is.

The drawing? Notes the feet and inches, for every single wall, every window, every opening, passage in the space. Individually!!

It notes where openings and passages lead.

That is where you begin. You post it here in a jpeg, and you add on for just the kitchen space as it is, separately. Neat . bold. legible, to scale at 1/4 inch to one foot.

You need to give us more information:

--Have you moved in? Houzz pros usually advise living in a house for six months to a year or so to see how it functions. What you call a "tiny" isn't tiny at all. Well designed kitchens have a relatively small work area to save on steps while cooking and cleaning up.

--Your sink is on the island. It is costly to relocate plumbing unless you plan to keep the sink there. This is why it's recommended to try out a kitchen before making changes. Often island sinks are "second sinks" with main sink along counters so dishes can be stacked up.

--We need to know what is behind the left door. If it's just a closet, you could relocate fridge there if you want to extend island or add a peninsula. If you move fridge and extend island, the fridge space on the right could be a pantry cabinet with shallow doors.

Please respond to all the questions we have.

What is your budget? Gutting the entire kitchen and starting new? You may need to install new flooring if it doesn't already run under the island, or if you more the sink and island and need to cover former plumbing.

What is the wall to the left with the TV? Can you expand into that area?

As info provided? The kitchen has nowhere to go........to be bigger than the roughly 13' x however long that kitchen may be.

Math, and the little parts of inches, are important to REALITY. AI can make all kinds of pie in the sky things that cannot happen in reality. Your aisles are already inadequate. A bigger island would permanently install that fridge, because the aisle wouldn't big enough to ever get it out to replace. Or for someone to stand there with the door open.

Please provide more information such as a floor plan layout. No assistance can be provided without this. Dimensions are very important.

I strongly disagree. The only time it's costly to move/add plumbing is if you are on a slab - and that's really only if you have to jackhammer into it. While I don't have experience with slabs (slabs are unusual in my area - everyone has basements or crawl spaces), I have read here a few times about having the plumbing above or being able to move it a few feet either way without breaking into the slab.

If you have a basement or crawl space under the Kitchen, it's not that difficult and does not cost all that much to move existing or add new plumbing.

We did it in our previous house with a full basement under the Kitchen and we're in the process of doing it in our new house with a crawl space.

Before ruling out moving plumbing (if that's your plan), check with local contractors, etc., for your specific situation.

We haven't heard from@Nicole Lewis since the original post, so we're playing a "waiting game" here. We need quite a bit more information, as others have stated above.

Please post a fully-measured layout of the space under consideration and a sketch of the entire floor. Both can be either hand-drawn, computer generated, or drawn up with computer/app tools.

By "fully-measured", we mean a layout with the widths of each wall/window/door/doorway and the distances between each wall/window/door/doorway labeled. See a sample below. If something cannot be moved or changed, label it precisely on your layout (see post in sample) and tell us why it cannot be moved/changed -- we may have some ideas for you.

The sketch of the entire floor lets us see how the Kitchen relates to the rest of the home. It doesn't have to be to-scale, but it should accurately show how the rooms relate to each other and should include all interior & exterior doors. In addition, it will help us see how traffic flows in, around, and through the Kitchen. Label the front entry and family entry. The family entry is usually a garage or side entry, but it might not be. It's helpful to know which door you use to bring in groceries.

Regardless of how you draw it up (by hand, computer, etc.), please be sure all measurements are labeled. (Note: Computer generated layouts often lack key measurements and, sometimes, measure to/from things like the middle of a wall or the middle of a window. Neither are useful. Measure each item and the distances between each item.)

Other questions...

• Tell us about you and your family and how you plan to use your Kitchen. All-adults? Empty Nesters? Children (now or in the future)?
• What appliances (& their sizes) do you plan to have?
• Where are you flexible? Can walls/windows/doors/doorways change (move, change size, add, delete)?
• Do you have a basement under the Kitchen or are you on a slab?

Every one of these similar threads should have a "forward" option icon.It would go to the SAME diatribe we all post on every single one: )

If all of you could become psychic, it would make these design dilemma posts much easier on the OP = no work would be needed on OP's part in order to receive advice/suggestions/layouts/etc.

Note: I wrote "psychic" - not "psycho" - I'm sure that we already have some of those on Houzz!
