I like the shape, size and color of your original one - just put some legs on it so it stands at the right height for your sofa.

Your coffee tables could be successful. The room is well done. I like your selections..

    Here's another option.

I would add drapery panels to the windows.

Your tree in the corner needs to be properly 'fluffed' You can't just take things out of a box and expect them to look realistic unless you shape the tree.

  • last month

@Beverly hahaha. i realized the tree looks ridiculous when you said that. So do you preder the darker then? Does lighter wood not make sense in that space?

Rather than introducing another wood tone + keeping room feeling light + working with dining room area + uniqueness - I really like the one below. If adding side tables or console, etc suggest using black.

Suggest holding off adding cushions, as they should be the last decision to pull the room’s components together and let the coffee table, side tables and accessories/art drive the choices.

I would choose a light table, even an upholstered ottoman with a tray top.

Even a glass top to keep the light feel of the space.

I prefer taller coffee tables, 18 - 20" high. It used to be the standard height, but they are harder to find now. Manufacturers figured out they could get higher profit by selling you that same table but make it only 14 - 16" high!!

The shorter tables can look ok with a low sleek minimalist modern sofa, but look too short in transitional spaces, specially with large rooms and high ceilings.

I agree with keeping with dining room. In our case that mean going big and aro like our dining table. Have you considered an oversized rectangular table?

  • last month

I really like the whiteish one i just felt maybe it was more coastal? thoughts?

  • last month

What do you mean when you say keeping witgh dining room? top is travertine so do you mean light? legs of dining table are darker. i have auch trouble understabding how to mix! l

  • last month

Oh! Picture is very poor quality on my phone and I thought the top was a light wood. Now that I see the legs are wood and dark I might go that route instead. I think you need a big coffee table or two as you have shown in pics. Colour of the one you don’t want anymore is fine but size is wrong

  • last month

I'd go for a light oak or warm walnut. It'll balance your rug and sofa without blending in too much. Maybe something round too, to soften all the straight lines.

  • last month

is the falco table in the lighter shade considered a light oak or warm walnut? not sure what that would look like!

  • last month

    It would look great

really!? For some reason i always feel that darker is more grounding....is that incorreect? Does it matter that the dining room table has darker legs?

  • last month

Everything doesn’t need to be matching. Choose what you would like. Our coffee table is slightly lighter than our dining table. Our chair legs in dining are very light as are our white oak floors. We also have two cedar square stumps as a small coffee table between chairs. You can mix and match. The biggest issue with your living area was the size of the table not Tue colour

ok so i just tried to mock this up.....thoughts?

I actually prefer the darkest wood of the three. The others get lost in the carpet

thats what i think. going to add some more pieces to get your thoughts

I prefer the wood tones not to all match, but that’s just me. We have Room & Board coffee tables, come in a wide variety of finishes ( quartz, ceramic, glass, wood, etc) & sizes up to 48” I believe. Fantastic customer service & no questions returns. I think round would look best in your room. Error on the side of larger.

Rectangular & square ones are knee bangers for me!

So these were the two chairs i was considering for the room depending on which table i select. If i go with the darker table, can i still put the first chair with the bottom that is lighter? or do i need to put a chair with darker wood. i acutally prefer the furry one but i think swivel is more functional for the space. Would love input here as well.

    So

  • last month

I would add colour in your chairs. Your room is lovely but it’s also super neutral and soft. I would add a different fabric like leather for chairs.

was planning on adding dark green, camel and a fun leopard kind of pillow. not really sure how to add color other than through the pillows. If it based on the chairs i selected would the light wood on the swivel still work despite the table being dark? assuming yes. Going to also add my console area to this to get some insight rather than staritng new postl.

I like a Noguchi table with sectionals and this one in that color of wood would be perfect you will aslo need lamps and end tables so think about all of that not just one piec at a time.. Please lower that TV and if the tree in the corner is fake get rid of it. Neutral is a nice backdrop but too much the same is just boring. I aslo always tell clients if you need to move pillows to sit down there are too many pillows so maybe think a throw for a touch of color insted

thx Patricia! i know. the tv is waaay too high. we had no choice as the wood beam was placed when we got here. i am actually trying fond someone who can redo the fireplace area to make it look more complete and maybe get rid of tye wood and have it all venetian plaster. its not centered and therefore not an easy design. i would prefer a love treee but im not here to water it. i fluffed it per your advice and it looks better than before.

love that table but i am not a fan of glass. my dogs hair shows up on glass too quicjly. but i love that sculptural aspect of it.

  • last month

I’d go dark with the coffee table - I think the rug may not play well with lighter options, neutrals can seem easy breezy but can quickly look “off” when paired with somenting in a different tone — agree that lamps would make the space much cozier at night

la-la Girl i think i agree. Each time I put the light one in a picture it feels strange to me. I wish i could find some intersting nesting tables in a warmer dark brown as this reads super cool to me

I keep trying to post this and it isn't posting.... trying one last time.

Thx Jan. I didn't realize that is the best way. I will post all of the pics here so it is all consolidated. I have blueprints of the home but i have not measured. Trying to figure out a design for the fireplace area. I would like ot do some sort of venetian plaster to finish the fireplcae as it literlly is unfinished . I plan on removing the wood beam and obivously lower the tv once it is all finished. Because the fireplace isn't centered every design seems weird to me. I am trying to complete this room and add a coffee table, swivel chair and an end table or 2 and either a table lamp and floor lamp or something like that.

i have purchased counter stools that i am not sure work in the space as well.

I love the DR table and the chairs. I plan on addiing a sideboard and new chandeloer and warming it up with wallpaper.

The entryway is fairly narrow according to Houzz but i still want something on the wall below the staircase as it feels bare to me. Whether it is a narrow console or it is a low bench I would like some help there.

The most important items on my list of doing are

    Fireplace design

    Coffee table

    Swivel chair

    Entryway

    Sideboard

posting pics of first floor main area, coffee table i think ill go with along with additional ones i like and entry way consoles for opinions

probably going with this table (for reference the ivory sqaure is 48") but not sure about sizing . may be only to fit one. not loving thta its only 14" high

    others i am looking at

    these are the counterstools

the entryway area im looking at these

any and all help would be great. NOt sure if i gave too much info or never enough. Would llove to figure out this fireplace and then select a couple of tables to start. thx

  • last month

so i added all as many pics of house i could. any additional help?

  • last month

If you post the dimensioned floor plan that would help. I’m going to go out on a limb here and throw this idea into the mix. What if you did black out white linen drapes on the wall to the right of the sliders (all the way into the corner - completely covering that single window - in traverse style so it can be drawn to the left to cover the sliders at night). This would allow you to put art over the fireplace and do the TV on a low stand in front of the drapes (single window). And then rotate the sectional so you walk into the back of the sofa where you might be able to do a sofa table with lamps)? A plan would help determine if this idea is feasible. I don’t normally suggest covering up a window but if you get good light through the sliders and kitchen area then it may not be a loss. The texture of a large wall of drapes would be cozy.

I am definitely a texture person, esp for more neutral rooms so I would want natural fiber shades on the windows - I like the shape of the coffee table you’re looking at but I prefer when the coffee table sits higher than the seating, esp in a room with such high ceilings (just personal preference)

Natural fiber shades in the kitchen and dining room would be nice!
