Take a pic from much further back so we see the whole side of the house and please wash your siding . The look you like is not going to happen unless you have $$$$$$$ So please show us your house. and explain why the garage is your entry.

When I say I like the 2nd pic- I don’t mean the size or scope, more the colors and stone work. I don’t even think I’d add roofing.

From the outside our main entryway looks like the porch door- but on the inside it isnt practical. Bathroom, kitchen and badement doors all clutter the area and no room for shoes/coats.

That isn't the answer........ to anything at that entry. It isn't an entry that begs attention , at all.

Better Idea? Show the rest of the interior spaces, and perhaps more logical storage will become a possibility.

I appreciate your thoughts but I don’t want to post pics of every area of my house. We have lived here over 20 years- the main entryway was designed 60 years ago and doesn’t work well for us.

Planter could hide that electrical equipment and it's on wheels so it can be moved when needed. Power wash the mildew near roof. Paint the door to garage

I would install a downspout/pipe cage over the electrical components and train a vine on the cage to minimize the appearance of that unsightly utility.

Another item you might consider

I understand your question is limited to the garage entry door but you can have a much better outcome if you consider the entire entry, including the walkway to the front door. When approaching your home, your field of vision isn't limited only to the approx 4 x 5 pad and door, the eye sweeps across the area.

Open up the entire walkway by removing the beds on the right, or at least in front of the garage entry. Add foundation planting on the left to cover the concrete foundation (not too wide or tall). Relocate the flag that is hanging over the walkway. Add a screen over the utilities, it looks like you may have an outlet there for seasonal lights. You can also add some seasonal decor in the bed on the left.

Edit around the entrance (can flag be moved to porch area), paint door, add a wreath, a large mat, and something to hide the utilities. Little things can have a big impact.

A common dilemma with a garage entry door and front entry door near each other is that visitors become confused about which is the main entry. You may want to consider keeping the garage door the same color as the siding and keep the decor around it a little more low key. You can paint the main entry door, add house numbers under the porch light, etc. to clearly differentiate it.

You could paint the door or the screen door. You could paint all the gray utility stuff to match the siding. Even if you didn't get a perfect match, it would be far less visible.

You should find an inspo pic that is a bit closer to your house, because it's very hard to find any element in that picture that would look anything but funny on your house.

We use our garage to access our house also (except we don't have a direct door to the outside) - it's pretty normal for a family to use the garage as a main point of access.

Most of the people on Houzz don't live in a "magazine photo house" - however, I understand if you'd rather not post several photos of the inside of your home. If you don't need help/ideas re: storage/organization of shoes/coats/backpacks/etc. - and are only asking for assistance for the curb appeal of the outside of your house (specifically your garage door entrance), you don't need to share more photos of the interior of your home.

When I read your post, my thought was that you want to add some type of portico to your garage door entrance. If you do a search for "simple front door porticos" or "inexpensive front door porticos" (or maybe you might be able to find examples by searching for "side door porticos"), you should be able to find a few photos that are examples of what you'd like to do to your garage door entrance. Post the photos you find in a comment - we will be able to come up with some helpful ideas.

At the least an attractive door at the garage entry would help. What does the inside of the garage entry look like?

I think it is a bad time of year to take pictures when we are all battling leaves and our landscape plants are all in a change state that is never truly beautiful.

If this were my home I may remove some of the landscaping, keep it a bit more simple. I would just mulch on the house side of the walkway and place a few big planters. Paint the doors and add a few decorations.

I would paint the utility stuff to match the siding. Might even build a small box made from lattice that fits over everything under the meter to hide the wires and stuff.

paint all the doors (garage and entries) a bright cheerful color that can be echoed in your flowers or accent them. There are endless possiblities to go with the white siding. Add a box to hide meter to match siding with door or cut out for meter reading.

Could you add that stacked stone to the concrete foundation?

Move flag so it hangs higher from the porch post. Add tile or flagstone over the concrete at the garage entry and flank door with planters.

Yours is the reverse of a dilemma everyone else has…usually people want to camo the secondary door to herd guests to the front door and almost always the comments include the advice to paint the second door the same as the house color. So I’ll say the opposite, paint your second door a color that isn’t white…relatively instant and easy sprucing up of the area

Great ideas that are pretty simple. I have a green door behind the storm door but it is wood. Can I paint a storm door? And if so, can it match the wood one behind it or would that look wierd?

Sorry but really I need to see the whole exterior to understand how to make this an obvious entry I care not what the inside looks like at all. I have no context as to how this are relates to your home on the exterior . Why do you need a storm door? Is this honestly where guests enter or just family? The meters cannot be hidden in most cases so always a big issue plus there is no space there to add anything. but if allowed painting those the same as the siding can help. I live in Canada where it is very cold in the winter I have never had a storm door but we do have a very good steel insulated entry door I use a phantom screen for fresh air in the summer . Jennifer has the right idea as for a nice look so maybe just do that . IMO the logical entry is the porch but you seem to insist on that garge entry so make it as pretty as possible I guess

If your screen door is metal or wood, you can paint it, with the right paint. If plastic or plasticized metal, IDK. I think it will be fine to paint it to match the door itself.

I would remove the planting bed halfway along the house and replace it with grass. The house will feel more welcoming when you can clearly see the doors and walkways.

More colour would be welcome. Your walkway could be a bit wider, but the stone colours are nice. I'd emphasize the walkway by repeating the red-brown stone colour on the door and the white porch.

Paint the utilities and wires the same colour as the house. Box over them if you can.

Make this door entry more important. Add a light fixture, house numbers, welcome door mat, mailbox if need one. Also paint a color as suggested above plus the gray pipes etc. same as house, The tall but skinny shrub shown above is a simple and year round hider. Something that can be pruned to keep its shape. Power wash walk and probably whole house. Mildew above and on walkway not good for your house.

I understand using garage door for convenience - i think painting both screen and wooden door a brighter colour is inviting ( snd try to hide or paint out the meter) and then a nice planter that can change with the seasons would also help focus to that door. Lay a coloured mat at the door to

cover what looks like uneven interlock

Without knowing how close to the road..or how much traffic you have on that road….I think the second entry could be cute and enjoyable screened porch…..

For the sake of balance in whatever you do …a picture back far enough..if possible…to see the whole house…always confirms or precludes your choices
