Bedroom hall layout - which version?

last year

I've made two versions of a floor plan and cant decide between the two. The house in question is an 1880 balloon-framed Ohio City home. This floor plan is of the 2nd floor. One condition we had to deal with is the floor framing is 9" actual rough-sawn. So 3" plumbing could not go through joists. We have a plumbing chase at the back wall below toilets - therefore toilets had to remain along the back wall. Joists would be running horizontally as viewed in the pics. Stairs are from 1880, but mostly compliant to IRC. It's not dimensioned, but distance from top landing newel post to bathroom wall is 40".

My concern with version 1 is the hall to the front bedroom is not that wide, so it'll be congested with the bathroom door coming off it - plus the blind corner where heads could conk. Natural light would also not be able to reach that hallway.

Version 2 looks better, at least from the main hall, but has the small passage inside the bedroom. Plus, I suppose it's less private an entry as far as the bath is concerned? Natural light would fill that passage on bedroom side as that room has two large windows.

Open to any and all suggestions!
