Contractor installed drywall that was too thick.

The drywall is higher than tile is there a way to fix this without having to demo tile or replace drywall?

It's not the drywall. It's a 25 lb bath with 50 lbs of poop stuffed in . It was an out of order, studs, framing, drywall, tiling process.

Probably a tub conversion to a shower and a total screw up with a contractor not managing

or supervising a tile sub.

I see electrical, so it's a 4" return wall......and should have been completely finished before a lick of shower tile was installed. Call it OUT. OF ORDER.

Replacing drywall with 1/4" would be easier than replacing tile.

Your contractor should replace the drywall in order for it to meet the tiles correctly. Have you tried to work out a solution with your contractor?

This reeks of poor planning, not drywall thickness. There was no coordination between the tiler and the drywaller; there should have been.

The issue is not your responsibility to fix. You say "contractor". I say "impostor". I wouldn't let him try to fix his mess. I would take him to small claims court in order that you are reimbursed for cost. Then find a true professional to finish the work.

Installed drywall starts as a segmented, raw surface and transforms into a smooth, monolithic wall surface through the finishing process.

Just curious, but why is it now an issue when the drywall was installed a while ago since the room looks to be completely finished?

Why is the drywall work being after the tile install? It should be the other way around.
