Entryway Styling Help

last modified: 10 months ago

Need help figuring out what to do with the narrow entryway of a craftsman. The wood has a lot of red tones and is original (no desire to paint it). The backwall is a closed off entry to the kitchen done by previous owners and we’re not going to modify it at this point in time. Should I put a tall bookcase against the back wall? If so, what color wood? A smaller cabinet and a mirror?

I need storage to hide shoes and would love to display things and have a mirror or two on either wall, and a lamp. There is a lot of beautiful wood in the house and overall decor is lighter colors. The entryway doesn‘t have a ton of natural lighting so I don’t want the furniture to be too dark or bulky. I like baskets too. The rest of the house decor is simple, uncluttered, more modern leaning, with blue accent color to balance the brown/red wood built-ins and plants. I like Amber Interiors design aesthetic for reference. Thanks!
