Are you just talking cosmetic update? You don't need to change any fixtures? Just looking to make the tile more appealing?

Show us your lighting and what kind of bulbs you are using. That too can change your perception of the color. And is there a shower curtain or glass door?

I had a 1938 bathroom that I didn't love, vintage tile part way up the wall like yours. I changed the upper white wall to khaki paint and it completely transformed the room. Hopefully another color against the brown trim tile will make you like that tile better too.

Narrow down your choices and order large samplize swatches to see what you think.

Then use the same wall color as accents with towels, bath mat, cup holder etc to tie all the colors together better so it is not just on the the upper half of the walls.

This is a very green based brown. I think it could surprise you how it looks in here.

I know from experience that Kendrah’s idea about the right paint color can really take the curse off a color you don’t like but can’t (yet) remove. In my case it was a kitchen with builder-grade almond laminate cabinet facings and counters. Miaculous!
