decoration ideas ?

Hi ! We recently moved into to this Spanish style charm and have quite a large bedroom to fill in. Any ideas on how to make it look cozy and a bit more modern without taking so much of the Spanish style look ? I’m wanting to add an accent wall any maybe some color. All suggestions welcome

Short answer: large area rug under the bed!

When you have a new baby, it can be easier to add color by replacing what you already have, instead of adding more things. An accent paint color for the bed's wall or a new comforter cover would be easy changes.

The selection of an area rug can be a good jumping off point for the design direction of the room. You can pull colors from the rug for the walls and use the color to select bed linens.

I’d want a smaller scale but cozy swivel chair in front of the fireplace - esp nice with the baby

Where is the Spanish style I do not see it in thta space . I see a huge space for not much reason A to sclae floor plan is a must I see you have a baby needing some space right now so IMO work on that small space to begin . The only Spanish I see are the floors so a nice big rug can hide a bit of them but they are not ugly . I think your bed looks nice as it is . Your drapery is way to skimpy so you need at least twice as many panels as you have now minimum. I never understand rugs under beds unless thay are so huge at least the same amount of rug is not under the bed. It that new headboard sitting against the wall?

Hi ! Thank you so much for the input! The smaller area isn’t a baby room, it’s currently just been the Catch all for baby items lol

Definitely agree on curtains ! Yes it’s a new headboard. Our current one broke during the move so it’s our ne replacement

I think you are actually off to a nice start on this space. It would be nice for there to be a cozy area by the fireplace. I would get two comfortable chairs for there and enjoy that space often. The TV looks quite high. Could it be lowered a bit. Otherwise, I agree that a rug would help. The rest, once tidied up is actually quite nice and neutral and calm.

I think bigger art is needed for over the bed. That one picture is dwarfed on that wall. Perhaps you can address that when the new headboard is in place.
