Here is Trail Mix

I thought Trail Mix was the perfect name for this quilt, until my husband said that Chex Mix would be a better name because of the little white squares. The designer is Mabeth Oxenreider for allpeoplequilt.com. I reduced the size from 84x102 to 72x90. I thought making 130 6" blocks was enough for me. There are five different blocks. Only one is totally random. Three are color-coordinated. One is half and half. I had so much fun choosing fabrics. My stash is almost exclusively scraps and short cuts. I had them stacked all around in my sewing room so I could see the different colors. What a mess! The panto is Spilt Paint, one of my favorites, from Anne Bright Designs. I may have to keep this one, at least for a while.

That’s such a sweet quilt, Char. It has a bunch of color, but it’s not busy at all.

When I see a pattern posted on line, or wherever, I will quite often say, ‘not for me’.

and I probably would have said the same for this one, until I see it fully finished..

Haha. I thought I would keep this quilt, at least for a while, because I really loved how it turned out. Well, my DD saw it the other day, and it went home with her. I’ll be able to visit it on Thanksgiving though when she hosts dinner. I really had to laugh, because she once said she didn’t like traditional quilts, especially scrappy ones. Maybe turning sixty changed her mind.

Oh that's funny, Lois! I remember the first quilt I made or my very picky sister years ago. She wanted only a 1 or 2 color quilt because she didnt want it too look to busy. When we sold the house to move aboard, I gave away about 10 quilts...this was the one she chose...her tastes definitely changed!

Haha, Colleen. I have a 62 year old son too. I wasn't quite a child bride, but I had my son two weeks after I turned 19 and my daughter before I was 21. I just had my 81st birthday. My profile photo is nine years old. I tried to upload a current photo. I converted it to a jpeg, cropped it, saved it and uploaded it, but I must be missing something, because the old one is still there. But thanks for the compliment. I try to keep a youthful attitude. I just saw the pre-Broadway run of Purple Rain, which opened appropriately in Minneapolis, Prince's home town. It was wonderful, but that music is 40 years old already. Yikes!!
