Wasn’t that a singing group back in the day?

Well, there wasn’t much singing going on in this construction. In fact, I may have to go to Confession, there were some not nice words used.

Block one was a learning block, mistakes made but corrected fairly easily.

Block two was more learning but still mistakes and some newer ones.

Block three was a bit easier , but my, they took a lot of time, at least two hours or more for each.

Block four was my Waterloo. . I made more mistakes than all three of first ones together. In fact, I finally pitched it in the rubbish. When you unpick the same seam three times, there is a message that this is not a good sewing day.

So today was another attempt and while I still made a few minor boo-boos, it did get finished. I had printed off extra templates so that was a bonus.

Paper is still attached, backing will be the blue, but I think I have to give it , and me, a time out.

They are pretty but there must be an easier way!

Will I ever do more paper piecing, ? not if I can help it!

Yes, the Four Tops were a huge Motown hit in the 60s especially. Remember "Baby, I Need Your Lovin'"? Now, for the placemats. Theresa, it sounds like you struggled, but they are really beautiful!! Were these going to be a gift? Someone will be delighted.

The blocks are beautiful. I admire someone who can say BTDT but never again because it was so unpleasant.

I think if the patterns are smallish, they would be so much easier to handle. These were four printer sheets and very awkward. Not saying I would do it again though. Thanks for your comments.

Theresa, those blocks look fabulous! Sounds like you really struggled, but the results are gorgeous!

I am not a fan of paper piecing either, but I did enjoy Linda Hahn's NY radiant beauty method with leave-in stabilizer instead of paper. You use a template to mark the stabilizer. It was actually much easier than the paper piecing I had previously attempted.
