Does anyone have a Red Light Therapy Device?

I was wondering if anyone is using a Red Light Therapy Device. The FDA cleared devices (which I know does not address efficacy, just safety) range from single body part devices like masks that may have one or two uses (like skin rejuvenation or pain reduction) to larger multi body-area uses with 5 modes of red light therapy (wrinkles, acne, pain, fat cell shrinkage, hair growth in a flexible oval pad shaped device, to large mats.

It seems like there are a lot of inferior products and fake versions of products sold at low prices but more reputable brands like Omnilux or Celluma can be pretty expensive.

Pal, I follow a several plastic surgeons and several dermatologists. The opinions on red light therapy is all over the map. Personally, I think the technology is too new to know if they work or not.

I used an Omnilux face mask for close to a year & finally stopped because I could not see any improvement.

I was not so much interested in a face mask, but I was wondering about the ones that have the wavelength for muscle pain relieve and treatment of psoriasis.

Maybe someone who has tried it for that purpose will chime in.

I will be following. I had MLS laser for my torn tendon and a broken toe. My podiatriest kept my before and after x-rays to show non believers. Healing took half the time!

Insurance doesn’t cover it so it would be great to own a machine!

I am skeptical that a hand held device could work as well those office devices though.

Girlnamedgal, same but I stopped after 6 weeks. Most advertisements show young people using them.

In any case I will see what my dermatologist's opinion is, too.

Pal, have you tried any of the Avène products for your skin? They seem to be highly rated and aren't prohibitively expensive.

Yeah one of my students did her project on red light therapy. From the studies she found the results were kind of mixed, so IDK what to believe.

Gscience, mixed reviews would make me want to at least try. Who knows why things only work for some people yet not others?

I've also seen that doctor opinions are all over the place. I do have a Mito 300 panel I've been using for two years. It does heal wounds or acne faster than not using it, so I appreciate it for that. (And our cats LOVE sitting in front of it.) But I can't say I've seen a difference in my skin quality or plumpness. I'm going to keep using it because it's just 10 minutes a day for 4-5 days/week. And maybe it's a long game? I have read many cautions about it possibly darkening melasma, so I probably wouldn't use it if I had melasma myself. It was developed by NASA and is used by NFL football players, so I figure there must be some benefit???

Omnilux has gotten some bad press lately, though I can't recall the particulars. Something about its claims not being accurate, but maybe you can find more info online.

@deegw, I have not tried those products. I was thinking more of the random patches of psoriasis I get, to avoid having to use steroids when they are more severe. So not so much face stuff.

Apparently if you are using this for facial wrinkles or whatever it's a minimum of ten weeks of use several times a week. The blurbs say 4-6 weeks but I think it depends upon what you are actually using it for.
