Pink Daylilies 2025

last month
last modified: last month

Post photos of your pink daylilies here. There is no limit on the number of photos. You can show us your seedlings as well as registered cultivars. The next color will be yellow on Friday.

Memphis put on a good show.

The Color of Wonderful made a nice clump, and it rebloomed well.

Ruth Watkins Davidson had some pretty blooms.

Summer Kate was one of my longest bloomers.

Dancing Flamingo was very short.

Dearest Valentine was my best rebloomer last year.

Divas in Diamonds had a better time setting seed here in slightly lower temperatures.

Neon Flamingo did not do well last season, only scaping on one fan.

Zuzu's Treasure

Bubblegum Queen had some rebloom last season.

Lots of nice pinks, Debra [as I expected!]. My favorites are Judy's Jewel x Bubblegum Queen 2, Brown's Ferry Debutante, Pink Extraordinaire x Cexy Samantha and ZuZu.

Photos won't load right now. Will try again later.

Debra, you are indeed the queen of pink! I especially like Summer Kate. Your pink seedlings are really pretty!

Hoosier Belle was registered this past summer.

Buddy's Pinkie has done well here for a southern daylily.

Heavenly Be My Valentine is a late bloomer.

Pinkie Dinky Do is supposed to have a patterned eye, but we usually don't see much pattern.

This will be a new intro for 2026. It will be named Shards of Narsil if it works out. It is a late bloomer.

This is another registration for 2026. It will be named Chelle Belle. Chelle Belle was a nickname for our daughter.

Thanks Brad! Judy's Jewel X Bubblegum Queen showed an improvement in buds last season, while Pink Ex. X SS had fewer buds.

Trying to post again. Nancy, I like Pinky Dinky Do and Heavenly Be My Valentine the best of yours.

    Allegheny Skyline

Do the Twist is pink I think...fluctuates between pink and lavender.

Carmen Renee x Tune the Harp

    Chance Encounter x Egyptian Ibis

Full Grown x Chance Encounter, a favorite

    Coral Majority x Bombay Silk

    Sugar Magnolia x Chance Encounter

Wind Frills x VT Rose Rosy

Brad, I really like the Full Grown and Sugar Magnolia seedling.

Nancy, I am also a fan of Pinky Dinky Doo and your new intro. I will have to remember it when I have room….your daylilies have done so well here.

Debra, all of the pink seedlings are wonderful, better than the registered ones. The Judys Jewels seedlings caught my eye first today.

Debra, your seedling has done great here.

Zuzu’s Treasure , such nice color.

Undercurrent made a comeback after being moved to a better spot.

Neon Flamingo did well despite poor conditions.

Her Best Bloomers had a few less buds. I just love the color…..nothing else like it.

    Gently Down the Stream

Final Touch did well. It had some large blooms.

Creansiccle Candy, its second season. Blooms have been consistantly good.

Banshee Whisper has been a bloom machine, not last season. It was among the earlier ones that didnt do well.

Before is my first daylily to bloom. Last season it had extremely short scapes and few blooms after having a previous standout season.

    Thanks for the seedling comments!

Nancy - Summer Kate is one that gets better increase here than in Nashville. It will be interesting to see what the bud count is on it next year. It is a dormant, Hoosier Belle is lovely. I think that was one you sent me. Unfortunately it never bloomed for me in Nashville, and so was left behind in the move. Pinky Dinky Do has a fun name and a fun shape!

Brad - Full Grown X Chance Encounter is my favorite among your seedlings. I like the shape and the big watermark. Allegheny Skyline is my favorite among the registered ones.

Sherry - I'm glad that seedling does so well for you. What a pretty picture of Zuzu's Treasure! I'm glad to see your Neon Flamingo did well in a challenging season.

Debra: You always have such beautiful pinks. Your seedlings look lovely as always. I love the edges on Memphis and Ruth Watkins Davidson. I'm not familiar with Davidson as a hybridizer, so either I'm out of the loop (very possible) or the name is new.........Brad: Your seedling of Full Grown/Chance Encounter is a real eye catcher.......Sherry: Your Zuzu's Treasure is one of my favorites. Sweet and simple. Such a nice round form too. You grow Debra's intro to perfection.........

Here's what was here this summer:

    Helen Reynolds.

    Sweet Summer Secrets

Rethink Pink. What a performer last year. Love it:

Have had this one 20 years now. Still a favorite pink. Earned a space in ground:

    Yesterday Memories (with Glads):

    Angel Kim:

Boy, this sure can take the heat here. This is right after a brief shower. Held up well.

    Paradise Road:

One of the few non rounded forms I like enough to keep:

    Carlolyn Grace McGhee

After eliminating all the pale pinks I didn't realize I still had this much. Do like pinks...Maryl

Maryl, my favorite is Caroline Grace, glad you kept it. Can you leave the glads in the ground over winter? Here they need to be lifted……too much for me to do with everything else here.

Maryl - Ed Davidson is a hybridizer in South Carolina. He's registered about a dozen cultivars in the past five or six years. I met him on a Facebook site that posts daylily pictures. Ed only sells through his Facebook site, Stone Leah Daylily Garden. As I recall, you don't have Facebook. Angel Kim and Paradise Road are my favorites of yours.

    Debra

Debra: Thanks so much for the info on Ed Davidson. I pulled up his Facebook page and all I can say is WOW. He's produced some forms that are right up my alley. Do you grow any of his others? Ruth Davidson is nice, but pale pink, however that form is luscious. But you know my climate and the tole it takes on daylilies. I always have to wonder about heat hardiness...........Sherry: Glads can perennialize here sometimes. It's kind of hit or miss. I really like the tall florist type Glads. I also like the sword shaped foliage in the landscape even after the blooms are gone. I never lift them to store. If I like them I leave them in the ground and see if they make it. If they don't I simply replant new ones. They are not expensive. This is a newish cultivar of Glad named Jenny. The tall variety always need to be staked and this is much better in our wind as It's shorter at 3 feet. ..........Maryl

Sherry, You have several I really love: That is a great Zuzu's Treasure, Neon Flamingo, Her Best Bloomers is indeed a great color! and Gently Down the Stream.

Maryl, Helen Reynolds has a wonderful green throat. Rethink Pink is a real beauty, and Angel Kim too.

    Brad

Maryl - Summer Kate, one I have pictured here, is by Ed Davidson. I also have Rev. Ed Davidson, but it has not bloomed yet.

    Debra

Oh Debra, that Summer Kate has a nice edge on it too. He certainly is moving in the right direction with the forms. I showed a newbie a few pictures of my daylilies. The ones that impressed him the most were the fancy edged, full figured gals. So it's nice to see someone else pursuing that line as well as yourself............Maryl

Well, I am behind, with garden work demands (trimming shrubs and clean up) in a few last good days. It will be interesting to see how the Davidson cultivars do after a few years. The new climate will be a good test of seedlings. I would have thought that lastyear's harsh winter would have stunted a lot of cultivars here, but it's more typical with late spring freezes.

Maryl's post certainly arouses interest in Rethink Pink. I suspected that it would be paler. (Ashwood's garden pretty much closed after illness and the pandemic.) Angel Kim not seen much in the trade (but Oakes has it). Helen Reynolds (interesting color) I see is a dormant diploid.

It will be good to see the parentage of Nancy's intros when they are officially released.

Let's see what I have labeled in my photos. (An ongoing process.)

Blushing Escapade. Not especially good this past year, but it's reliable and lovely..

Davidson's Playing With Colors. Not as tall as some Davidsons, but the color is one of her better rose pinks.

Joy Came Down. This Emmerich has been very reliable and fairly vigorous.

    Purdy Rich can be nice.

Oldies such as Rose Masterpiece and Seminole Wind were a spectacle. They loved the plentiful early rain.

Partygirl Panties has a floozy-like loose form. It is tall. A number of hybridizers are reporting success with this.

Soft Play--thick substance and alluring color, but fairly short.

Repeated Discovery was parent of Blushing Escapade.

Gia's Wonder is a tall one.

Indy Long Legs, a dip, has prolific flowering.

Miss Marie is on the short side. This year it looked a lot like Natalie Antoinette.

Crintonic In Living Color has good height and vivid color.

Pink Aloha looked good, but no rebloom.

Neon Flamingo does not have high bud count here.

Davi's Dilemma is an older Davisson with good height.

    Crintonic Perfect Kiss

Mantis: I always like seeing Pink Aloha. I got bored with pale pink, but I never tired of Pink Aloha. There's just something about it that attracts me. And too, your picture of Rose Masterpiece/Seminole Wind is calling to me. Nice look.........I was just wondering the other day, do you still do the Hospital Bed? It was always so pretty. I liked seeing the mix of flowers....Maryl

mantis: I have fond memories of Rose Masterpiece but not so much for Seminole Wind. I may try to find RM and try it here. Nice grouping of pinks you have.

Maryl, yes I do care for the Urgent Care bed. The cannas were very good, but did require a lot of watering from August on. For some reason, the deer did not bother the canna (not a favorite, but that didn't stop them from nibbling in previous years). The peonies were okay. The perennial garden was problematic, as deer were a plague, devouring things despite nightly applications of repellent.

Pink Aloha is a beautiful color. Seminole Wind has been quite consistent here.

Brad, the Full Grown/Chance E seedling is a very clear color. I can see why it is a favorite.

Mantis - I like the shot with Seminole Wind and Rose Masterpiece. Seminole Wind was always a good one for me until it got shaded out by the neighbors' trees. Soft Play is a pretty one!

    Debra

Mantis: I don't care for Cannas as a rule. They are perennial here and quickly swamp a border. But then I've not seen as beautiful a bed of them as in your display in a long time. Great color combination........Maryl

Mantis, the Urgent Care bed is so pretty and so well planned!

I really love Rose Masterpiece and Seminole Wind a lot. I love their colors and form.

Indy Long Legs and Davi's Dilemma are also beauties. I also like Soft Play.

Alas, they just put up a big banner sign in one of the Urgent Care beds. It's always something. It was easier for them to dig in garden soil.

More pinks are showing up as I review photos.
One Last Dance (I like the color on this Moldovan.)

    Davisson's Addicted to Love.

Wild Cherry Wine, not a great year

    Boss Lady

Stamile's Blue PInk Beauty (better pics in previous years, but it was floriferous)

Mantis - The cannas look beautiful surrounded by the marigolds!

You always have such pretty pinks. Jubilee Ball remains one of my favorites. "She's like a Rainbow" has unique coloring; as if every bloom might be differently patterned. Reminds me a bit of Stephanie Returns. Big Hearted Lady also catches my eye........I had Cool Fool this spring, but it was a weak grower and died off in about 8 weeks. The only one of my spring intros to do so. I usually have better luck with Tanner daylilies. Look forward to seeing yours this season .....Maryl

David - You have a lot of nice pinks. South Sea Enchantment and Shores of Time have timeless beauty. Big Hearted Lady may be my top favorite. Thanks for posting!

    Debra

Lots of nice pinks David. My favorites are South Sea Enchantment [wow!], Jubilee Ball, and
    CRINTONIC IN LIVING COLOR.

Always eager to see your pinks. Bennetts are underappreciated. She's Like a Rainbow has declined a bit in height the past two years, but every year brings new perspective. I've grown to quite like Woodside Romance.
