Thank you all. We are an hour and a half Amtrak ride / drive away from them. I cannot wait to be a part of this baby's life. They are talking about moving down south to somewhere warmer in four or five years so. I gotta drink it all up while I can.

My two little ones (three and 10 months) have brought so much joy to my world. Not saying that I didn't love raising my two daughters - I have a very close relationship with each of my girls. However, being a "nana" is just different. It's all the fun without the hard parts.

My grandson has come over to my house once a week since he was about 4 months old. Listening to him squeal, "Nana!" as he runs over to jump in my arms EVERY time I see him (regardless of who else is with him or what he's in the middle of doing) is such a wonderful feeling.

My granddaughter comes over for a day every other week (my grandson hasn't completely adjusted to sharing me - so, he still has his own day every week). She is so sweet and loving.

I am truly happy for you!!💕

That's great. You'll have so much fun with the baby. Watching Hannah pass on some of the nurturing you all gave her will be the cherry on the top.

This all goes to show that family is what you make it. This baby will be my first cousin twice removed. Everyone thinks Hannah and I look like sisters or mom and daughter. We kind of love it and smile secretly at each other. Hannah's mom is adopted and so we share no blood. People see love.

I called Hannah today and told her I want to throw the baby shower. We are already having fun thinking about it!

Hannah’s mom is incredibly jealous and resentful of my relationship with her. I never want that to spill over on to Hannah so I will stay away from any grandma type names. That will just stoke the flames.

It would be nice if she had a special name for you. I like ”Kenni”. Hannah was SO amazingly fortunate that you and dh swooped in to rescue her. Your reward will be endless, and everything declared by all your hz granny friends! I can only add ditto!

I was a nanny when I was younger and the kids called me Kiwi. I’d take that again.

Does the new mom have a nickname for you?

We are Dammie and Tappy. Our 14 yr old grandson’s name starts with a ”G”. He couldn’t say a “ G “sound and said ”D” instead. He was our first grand and we didn’t know what we wanted to be called. He started with something that sounded like ” damma” and he gradually changed it to ” Dammie ” . I liked it so it has remained and our others use it as well . As far as ” Tappy” our grandson just added it to ” Dammie” and as far as he’s concerned we are all one word ❤️❤️. Years ago when he would open their door to let us in he would always crane his neck around me and either ask ” where’s Tappy? “ or exclaim ”There’s Tappy !” . The other day he was over and we were talking about people moving and he said, ” you can’t ever move or I couldn’t come do music with Tappy. ”

No. Hannah and I just go by first names. We are 19 years apart in age. She's felt so much younger than me until this year. Now she is starting to feel like my peer. Her friends think I am her Aunt.

Growing up Hannah called my brother Uncle but her Mom never referred to me as Aunt because I refused to do drugs with her and I moved away and got a life.
