fireplace help please!

Is something off with the fireplace? Maybe color? How to fix or would you just tear it off and do something totally different?

It is too high for the tv. That’s why it looks off.

The TV is wider than the fire box, with the result that it looks top heavy. You could fix this by placing dark objects next to the fire box: this could be fireplace tools or a large vase.

If possible I would remove the wood "mantel" and move the TV down.

The TV looks too high but maybe that's a distortion of the photo. I would switch the tree and floor lamp and scoot those 2 chairs closer to the floor lamp to open up the walkway into the space. If the sectional can be pushed back further, that might help with proper TV distance. Agree with above to add a couple tall elements on the hearth for balance.

The fireplace itself isn’t an eyesore, but wall/room feels unbalanced. Wonder if you removed the console behind the sectional and then move it back, place chairs next to fireplace and place console where chairs were. Just guessing, but maybe worth a try. Find new spots for floor lamp and plant.

The TV is the issue not the FP is this really the only place for a TV???? Some pics of that whole space would aslo be good

The fireplace surround looks like it is just stuck on the wall. There's no real depth to it.

It’s the only space for a tv. It is the frame tv so it looks slightly better but it is what it is because we need a TV unfortunately

We are debating on just taking down the fireplace

But the TV would still have to go there

If the fireplace isn’t regularly used, then taking it down gives you a whole new room - using that wall for a custom wall unit that includes the tv at a better height for viewing; adding some color in the room; adding storage for books, collectibles, storage for children’s toys if needed, etc.
Unless you love that fireplace, I would explore other ideas for that wall.

Can the tv be lower and in the corner where the tree is? Set it diagonal on a wall mount.

It really is throwing off the fireplace.

    Cute puppy!!

Oh wow that does make sense!!!!

Getting rid of the mantel and lowering the TV as suggested would help. Right now, the mantel colour does not play nice with the rest of the room, only the stone.

I agree with Beverly about color. But, the ceiling fixture - is it a light? is it a fan? just doesn’t work with the rest of your decor.

I think that wall is all that space can handle adding shelving loaded with stuff will not help the space . If you remove the mantel then no fire when watching TV unless the FP is electric I think if this is the only place for TV then maybe this is as good as it gets. IMO too much furniture in a tiny space but It would be nice to see that whole space . The ceiling fixture is not good . I have no idea why people still buy frame TVs since any smart TV is the same . IMO a black screen would be better . I think the mantel might be abit dark but you have wood in the space . I usually in small spaces use a bedroom for TV but you say no way so I think what you have is as good as it gets just too much furniture

I also think this is as good as it gets. I would not take out the fireplace. Nor would I replace it with a wall unit which is a dated style.

Maybe warm up the space with a warmer wall paint color and go a bit darker on the fireplace with a dark bronze with copper accent fireplace cover. Bring in some warm textured throws and/or pillows.

Apologize here. I really just reiterated what Beverly suggested :). Nice colors Beverly.
