Rose identification

Any ideas on what the name of this beautiful rose could be? Someone posted this pic on Facebook, but never provided a name - ugh!

Perhaps David Austin's 'Summer Song? I don't grow it myself, as it was not available for sale in the US until recently through small, independent rose vendors.

Austins Summer song was also the first thing that came to mind.

I really hope DA is able to breed another, improved version of Summer Song that can do well in the states. The color, form, and fragrance are amazing. Maybe they could call it Summer Song 2.0? A girl can wish

Just what was Austin's reasoning about how Summer Song would do badly in the US? Pure twaddle. I grow a lot of Austins, and they do well here in a climate that couldn't be more different from European and UK's climates. Most of my DA roses love the hot and dry climate in this semi-arid climate. I haven't believed anything Austin puts out for the masses' consumption in years. Diane

Summer song, unlike her namesake, sulks in places with hot summers. Seems to do better in regions with milder summers

I guess I’ll discover for myself what DA was thinking or not thinking. I was gifted a baby Summer Song this year by a rose friend. It is still small, but growing, and it gave me perhaps half a dozen blooms this past summer. They were a bit smallish, but beautiful. The plant itself
is doing fine. I’m looking forward to seeing what another year or two does to it. Mine is own root, but I would love to try grafting it sometime.

Looking forward to see how yours does Judi. It is weird when breeders do stuff likethat It reminds me of Kordes removing Pompon veranda. Why not just let the consumer decide if they want to try growing it or not. I know of many here who have tried to find summer song over and over and would love to grow it.

One of my rose trading partners sent me a bunch of Summer Song cuttings. He had offered it as a rooted plant previously, but I declined since it supposedly was a poor performer. But he was in Modesto-ish, a very hot climate and it did well for him, and he insisted that it would do even better for me here in cool coastal CA. I've given a couple of them away, so I now have 3 in one gallon pots. What has been odd is that they haven't bloomed much. I've had only a couple of blooms. Which is odd, since most of my other rooted cuttings in one gallons (like The Prince) bloom fairly often. I guess they might be screaming to me to get them up-potted :-D

Susan you are a lucky girl. Put those babies in the ground and see how they do. I expect it would be a blackspot disaster here, but hopefully a gorgeous plant where you are. The blooms are certainly a very unique color.

Susan, I agree with Dianela - you're very lucky to have received those Summer Song cuttings. I love their color and shape. So beautiful. Pot them and see what happens! :-)
