Would love help redesigning this entryway. A shoe storage cabinet with doors, new seating and a cabinet for coats. Needs a complete makeover. Thanks.

I am confused I see chairs in the entry why? Waht rooms are next to this entry .I see afireplace ?? I think I need to see a floor plan of at least the rooms next to this area and how they are used .Seating needs in a entry are simple a bench or one simple chair to sit on to take off or on boots or shoes . Is this the family entry or for guests too. Too little info gets really not much help.

Yeah, feels like a family room. Not sure you have space for closed coat storage, but you could probably do a coat rack or some hooks.

Is this an entryway with extra space and a fireplace is this both your entry and your only living room? I think we need a better understanding of the space. If it's a combined LR/Entry, you'd need a rug to float the furniture more towards the middle of the room. Then, put a wardrobe/armoire against the wall between the two windows. Put shoe storage under the leftmost window. I think you could move the furniture far enough away from the wall to open the doors of the armoire.

It looks like you have some kind of oxygen machine. Whoever needs it probably needs to not trip on the wire. Add a jack in the right place.

To add to Sigrid’s suggestion, I would move chairs toward fireplace leaving a pathway between the chairs and the entry closet/coat storage/ shoes, bench. The bench should have arms on each end to aid sitting and standing if needed for residents and guests. Room dimensions would be a great help.
An alternative would be add all above for entry, then remove the chairs and use as a dining area in front of the fireplace. Take care with rugs as they can be a tripping hazard.

This looks like a living space that has a door that opens into it. I would love to see a floor plan.

    Please post a floor plan.

If you can move the seating area closer to the fireplace as suggested by others, you could add a full or half wall with open or closed storage or add a lift-up bench to separate the entry from the living area. It may mean narrowing a bit the large entryway to the room to the left of the entry door.

There is a gap between the right side of the fireplace and the stairwell to the upstairs (where the little floor stand with decorations is). Is there sufficient space to build storage cabinetry there?

You're missing a wall. Please take a photo of wall that faces front door to the left of armchair.

Your furnishings are less than ideal. You need a full-size sofa at the very least.

    Until then:

--Move the sofa forward as others suggest and anchor it on a large patterned rug in grays and golds to harmonize with floors. Float the armchair to face the doorway.

OR: Move sofa and armchair foward side by side as you have them with sofa table behind.

--Add a long sofa table behind the sofa for a landing zone--with basket for keys, possible drawers for mittens, and shelf for shoes. It should be wider than this or two identical side by side shorter sofa tables. That's your drop zone--behind the sofa/armchair. Choose wood finish like your flooring.

--Add long ivory/white/or lightly patterned drapes to all the windows.

--Add a vertical art work (or mirror if it reflects fireplace) between the windows.

Like the other commenters, I am struggling to understand the layout of your home.

More information, because what I see is an antique home which has been "modernized". Windows look 2 x 6 construction, which would indicate a bump out to enlarge the space and allow a side front door. Original fireplace and staircase. Any chance the home is a three quarter or full Cape with a center entrance chimney?

Love to see the exterior, please.
