Finally!

last month

The place mats are finished. The pattern suggested regular binding but I opted for self-binding. I knew there was a trick to getting nicely mitred corners and I had it half right. So the corners could have been better done but it is what it is.

What took so long to get these finished was two different infections and the necessary antibiotics. I started with a sinus infection, followed closely by a case of walking pneumonia, again more antibiotics. Needless to say, I was not moving much. Old bodies take a long time to snap back. It is slow!

My 100 year aunt died this week. She had vision and hearing problems but she was sharp as a tack. And her only daughter is in hospice and not expected to last very long. Life sure has its hiccups.

Theresa, I'm so glad you're feeling better. You are so right about old bodies. My condolences upon the death of your aunt and the impending death of your cousin.

I thing your placemats turned out great! My guess is that you're not going to start on another set sometime soon. Lol.

We landed in Palm Desert on Sunday, and our car transport came at the same time. So, I have all my sewing stuff here, and I'm ready to start quilting. I also ordered a Sew Steady sewing table for my little Janome Jem so I could have a even surface to sew on. It came yesterday. I belong to the Coachella Valley Quilt Guild down here, and our Christmas brunch is Saturday. Should be fun.

And the Christmas Ribbons quilt copied from Lois has been turned into a tablecloth.

I found a new sheet in my ‘white bin’, just the right size. I decided to do the same finishing technique, self binding. It worked well. Beats birthing it! Lots of threads to clip though. I was glad to be able to finish it rather than have it sit in a drawer.

Oh, Theresa, so sorry you have been struggling with illness. Happy you are feeling better. Condolences on the loss of your aunt and impending loss of her daughter. This time of year we all have to be especially aware of illness and try to be vigilant in protecting ourselves against it.

Your placemats are just lovely and I'm sure your Christmas Ribbons cloth will add cheer to your holiday table.

    Blessings and stay safe everyone.
