Keep current layout or is there something better.

Our main floor bathroom needs to be refreshed. It has quite a bit of wasted space. But I also like that it’s not cramped feeling and that the toilet is kind of hidden in the back. I am thinking new flooring, slightly larger vanity (color?), lighting, mirror, paint. Not sure what to do about the original Tub it’s functional but a dreary beige. I would like the bathroom to feel fresh and clean.

So attached to a bedroom or just used like a powdwer room . Do you need the tub . Too much missing info for help in decor . I think a longer vanity would be nice not sure how thta storage cupbord relates to anything else in the space but great storage. I need more info plase For me the shower curtain and the floor do not work together but I aslo need to know if you need the tub.

Our house is a modest ranch. This bathroom is used by overnight guests (family members) as well as daytime visitors. It is not attached to a bedroom. I’d say our decor of the house is transitional. It’s the only tub in the house.- Not sure if that matters these days. The black cabinet does not relate to anything else. I just found it on marketplace and it provided storage until we figure out a game plan. I am thinking some kind of built-in cabinet if we leave the layout as is . Current color is Revere pewter as a reference. I definitely need whiter lighting. Everything looks yellow. We will likely sell in 10 years but could be longer as everything is on the main floor for us.

Paint and new flooring will be a refresh.

Choose a color close to the surround color, but much lighter for just the tub area.

whatever color you like for the rest of the room.

I personally would choose a light flooring, not a pattern for a lift.

Lighter mirror, and decor/accesories to lighten it up. The black cabinet is a nice addition, a real feature. Make it so, with a contrasting paint color in that alcove.

I like the cabinet. But something to consider. You could put a second sink in that spot. Would that be an upgrade for you? Or, you could put a sparate shower in that spot. A walk in shower becomes a necessity as we age.

Agree with Patricia on a longer vanity. The greenery can be placed on floating shelves above vanity or above toilet if that is something you still want displayed in the bathroom.

Considering this is just a guest bath, the layout is fine. Were it your primary bath, I'd try to rearrange for a longer vanity, but don't think it is a worthwhile endeavor in a guest bath.

As the only tub in the house, I would keep it. It sounds like you have a walk in shower for your own accessibility needs should that ever be an issue. Having one tub is good for resale, if keeping it won't hinder your own needs, which it sounds like it will not given this is a guest bathroom.

Your storage is incredible. Before spending on a built-in cabinet unit, I'd either keep the piece you have now, or add simple shelves and double doors to make it an enclosed linen closet.

The angle of the sink you have now is odd though incredibly useful as it gives max surface space but clears up more floor space. If you replace this sink, consider a wall hung sink, which frees up floor space to stand closer to the sink and makes a room feel a bit bigger than a vanity that sits on the floor.

I really appreciate all of the feedback! We do have a walk-in shower in the house already. A nice thing about the current layout is that it is wide enough for a walker to make it all the way back to the toilet and I put out a support seat with grab bars when our parents are visiting. When updating, we would add support on a permanent basis for the toilet and tub. I don’t see a second sink as being an advantage as there have never been two people using this bathroom at one time. I dislike the color of the shower, but perhaps a new shower curtain and whiter lights could help that situation. I also don’t want a white vanity across from an almond tub so the vanity will either be a wood tone or a color. I like the suggestion of making it floating. Also, the fact that that cabinet is black, confuses me about the vanity. Any thoughts about that? I suppose I could paint the cabinet

The layout is pretty nice as is. If you are really after a re fresh, feel, just paint.

The wall color is just too dreary, without a lot of natural light.

I'd paint the whole bathroom, walls and ceiling BM Soft Chamois and leave the flooring as is.

It will make your black accents feel intentional.
