California Faucets makes two different size cover plates in the Satin Gold. These are your options to cover the space in the incorrectly cut hole.

It will look something like this below.

Don't know if this will match but Amazon has a brushed gold smaller plate for cheap.

They fabricate hole covers. You might be able to have one drilled, but will 2" be large enough?

Can you find a thin, but wider, satin gold "washer" to place under the ring that you have?

I had the same idea as chispa.

I'd try epoxy to make the hole round.

Even a fair technician can fill that inconspicuously.

Thank you. After I submitted this post I reached out to the faucet manufacturer. It sounds like a custom ring will cost too much and take too long, so we are going with that rectangular plate, unfortunately. They advised against using a washer and I couldnt find one in a lifetime satin brass. 😬
