Are you sure all those boxes were the same dyelot . I rarely would see this mich difference in laminate flooring if all one lot. I think hubby was probably just wanting to get it done and maybe not aware of the differnt shades as he worked . The bonus I guess is laminate is a clic install usually so with a lot of work maybe the floor can be relaid differently but that is a ton of a redo and maybe not much better if the dyelots were off.

That could easily occur in natural wood installation. It's the only thing to view so it's more noticeable to you.

Maybe if you add a runner and or plant you'll have something else to focus your attention on.

There are procedures for replacing damaged planks. That is the easiest solution at this point.

Where you're replacing several planks next to each other, regular installation along the length should be possible. That means the tongue needn't be removed.

The dye lots were not off, that is supposed to have that much variation. This is why it's important to pull from multiple opened boxes and pay attention to color and character marks when laying these floors. Live with it for a bit and you might not notice it as much anymore. If it drives you nuts have him redo it. It's really pretty!

It looks fine to me because DH did all that work and to have to take it apart to change a few boards you have to decide if it is worth it. I think if it bothers you put a full runner to the right of island and get used to the rest.
