You have white trim, so you could paint the mantle to match the trim color, if you wish too. Personally, I would leave it as it is for an accent.. I would not do the beige color on the walls, but, the SW alabaster you seem to like, would look much nicer on the walls. Or you could paint the walls, with just a tint of a color in them, also. By color, I dont mean beige. I mean, blues, or greens, etc and, I do mean, just a tint of color. Something that goes with your furniture.

Make the decision to paint your mantle last. Decorate the room first. Sofa, chairs, area rug, paintings, etc. all in place. Then make the decision on the mantle. You may like the warmth it brings to the room, or you may know right away that it needs to be painted. It will be worth the wait.

I think the bricks give some character to the room and the mantle goes well with the wooden floor. If the mantle is scratched and worn, then I would just refinish it in a similar color to the floor.
