A better fabricator would have done a better job and if he wasn't capable of doing a good/clean mitered edge he should have let you know, so you could choose a different edge or a different fabricator.

Ugh i know . This makes me wanna totally cry at the money time and effort put in in choosing the stone and after all that..

at this point now though I'm trying to figure out what to do. ill ask as joseph above said. he did tell me originally when i mentioned maybe round the edges will help with the glue being so bad, and less obvious, that it will just chip the stone and he blamed the stone for being very difficult to work wirh. so i dont know if i should insist on that.

Would you have accepted a built-up (laminated) edge instead of a miter?

I used 2 cm Taj Mahal quartzite in my previous kitchen and my fabricator (who was excellent) suggest the built-up edge for this material.

In the new build in a different state, 3 cm slabs are the norm, so I was able to just use the 3 cm slab with an eased edge. Also Taj Mahal quartzite.

Perfect smooth edges with both batches of quartzite slabs and 2 different fabricators. My first fabricator was a true artist, but I knew the second one in the new state wasn't, so I didn't ask for anything that would be beyond basic fabrication skills.

I wish he wouldve told me he cant do it - i only saw it after installation. you think he can do that edge now when its on already? I would not have built it up if i wouldve known 😩

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this. We put Taj in our kitchen, and absolutely love it (we waited 3 months for our stone yard to get some in). Like Chispa, our slabs are 3 cm.

Our fabricator was fantastic. We have a full height backsplash. With granite they cut the slab to 2 cm thickness for the backsplash; he said they won't do that with Taj Mahal, because of how fragile it is. We were fine with a 3 cm thick BS, but I'm glad he explained everything up front.

That is pretty bad. I don't think that can be fixed easily, but I'm not a fabricator.

To confirm, in your area you can get 3 cm slabs? If correct, then get new slabs and just keep a simple 3 cm edge with no miters or built-up edges. Easy to fabricate, easy to maintain and it will look nice for a long time.

On second look. reprofiling may elongate the poor miter, making it worse. I'd negotiate a discount and live with it.
