Mmmmmmm WHAT happened to all this down below? For SAME room, or I've lost my mind?

    https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6509312/what-size-area-rug

IS there a rug?! If so...........WHAT rug? Post a current picture, and can we see what may have happened to all the advice on ^^ that thread?

Come back with a current picture of the whole room please? All angles? What is the rest of the bedding?

May I ask what you're after? An upholstered headboard? Why "valances" ? I ask as they are a quite a bit dated : )

If you want a cohesive result, a beautiful bedroom - delete this new thread, and go back to where you BEGAN several months ago?

Please forget the patterned sheets? Not at all necessary.

You got no help on the other post ? For me a dust ruffle is plain and goes with the other bedding it does not drive the other bedding. No printed sheets for sure . Maybe a ticking could work .

Thanks, the bedroom is still a work in progress, I have an idea of what I want to do, just wanted to see what other fabrics could work with what I have.i haven’t replaced sheets yet as we have only been here 4 months and have been concentrating on other areas. I’ve tried to sell the parts of the bedroom set that won’t work with no luck so am trying to make them work somehow. Did I say I’m 80.

I only thought valences to add some color and the windows are 6 feet tall.

You aren't getting what may be wonderful.....?

    "

"I only want the rug under the bed so why do the windows or size of the room matter? ".........

    Everything matters......: )

WHAT AND HOW much solid wall is between each of the three " spaced evenly windows??

This IS your room...it's missing a window..

Note: ) In a very good hotel? there is one color for sheets: White. In a home? Possibly two colors.... White or ivory. Everything else ........decorative opportunity

Step back and consider the big picture and how you can pull the room together and a rug is a good place to start. Before hanging pictures, can the layout be adjusted, per Jan’s diagram.

    - Suggest a neutral solid (hard to tell the fabric’s exact shade) for the headboard, whether you are buying or reupholstering.

    - I‘d save the effort/money and skip the valance and purchase linen like neutral drapes (note height placement below) and try Ikea.

    - Don’t overthink..it will be much easier to use neutral solid fabrics and let the art, accessories, bedding, cushions and rug create the interest. It will feel more contemporary and elegant if interested in that look.

The furniture set up IS the problem, and seems to be standing in the way of a good looking room.:. The bed is a cal. king. the op is insistent on jamming it into a meaningless niche, has not replied as to rug, and the exact size of windows, and their exact placement in the window wall remains unclear. Curtains can solve the issue of a bed placed in front of the windows, but need wall, window, wall, window, wall, window, wall..inches left to right and width each.

Ok this is what I measured. What the floor plan calls the bedroom is 14feet long and what they call the retreat is 6 feet the room is 18 feet wide The door which opens to our entry hall is. 5 1/2 feet wide, the windows are 3 feet wide, 6 feet tall and 30 inches fro floor to bottom. The windows are 78 inches between each window. The door is way off center and moving the bed to the window wall would make the bed either lock the bathroom door or the first thing you see from the entry hall.

Sorry the room is 15.3 feet wide not 18. I measured the door opening too

    @ Lainey Stern

    26' long x 11 high wall

    ^^^

    Your words..........FROM two threads

"I understand all the room matters, the room is about 26' long from the bathroom door to the opposite end and about 15' wide. 11 foot ceiling. The bed is in about 12 ' of the room. It’s meant to be a combination retreat /bedroom I think."

More WORDS........" Here is what I measured

"What the floor plan calls the bedroom is 14feet long and what they call the retreat is about 6'the room is 18 feet wide The bed is in about 12' of the room The door which opens to our entry hall is. 5 1/2 feet wide, the windows are 3 feet wide, 6 feet tall and 30 inches fro floor to bottom. The windows are 78 inches between each window. Lainey.... between two threads,, three months, there were and are a lot of people attempting to HELP you? Where do you think I got these sketches?

It doesn't MATTER how a realtor, or a builder labels rooms, or AREAS of a room. You are locking yourself into another's idea of what YOU should do with a space!

Here.......from your previous thread, where I attempted to interpret. The drawing IS your room. It has a five foot entrance, I was asking you to MEASURE each wall, the red, and the green, , the purple too..

I can't understand why you are locking yourself into the bed placement. You would need curtains over your center window,, behind your California king bed.

Or do it your way, get a pin stripe dust ruffle made, and call it a day: )

From the other thread below........below. Yes, it was missing the window that needs "covering"!

I will ask yet again......Do it, don't do it, Up to you. Copy the drawing, use a tape measure, Or leave it as is.

I would butt the remaining armoires together, end wall , left of entrance, I would put your dresser IN the niche. I WOULD cover the middle window with enough drapery behind my bed

None of what I would do, or anyone else would do, matters, Do you, I had to give up lol

It is ONE room, and where someone else decides chairs should "go" ? It is still one bedroom, and ALL of it should be a "retreat"

Regarding the rug. No rug for safety. A rug has edges that can catch you unexpectedly and cause a fall. Even if you were not the self-disclosed 80, cleaning a rug under a bed is a pain, if not for you, then your cleaning person will also find it a pain.

Thanks for all the support, since my husband and I can’t physically move everything around I will have our handyman move everything and see how it works out.

I just saw @JAN MOYER's floor plan suggestion and agree. With the original pictures you had provided (there was no floor plan shown), I had done this mock-up using what you have but replacing the bedding with a white duvet cover, a textured white rug, moving the tall cabinets together, and also showing natural fiber roman shades on the windows.

    ^^^ .

    I REVISE !!!

I think your room is 15' 3" and that INCLUDES the annoying/confining niche. I'm going to forgive you are 80: ). I am also going to ask you if you want a room that LOOKS like you're 80!? Maybe not? I refer to that Kaufman/Kravet, that feels quite dreary in this room, AND a bit dated 1990.

Yes........!!! Get the handy man! Hopefully no this below.

I think I know exactly what happened here. You ran out for a California King mattress to SUIT the confining niche, You could have kept a regular king, with better bed placement considered. ! Unless there is some other reason?.....

Are either of you unsteady unstable, shuffling,? Have mobility/balance issues?

The windows are narrow, there isn't a lot of daylight. Losing one window to a bed move and curtains? Hardly matters for light. . BRIGHTEN the whole room with a ROOM SIZE appropriate area rug.You can go to any good broadloom store, ( not a big box store) pick, and have a cut to size custom rug, bound and finished to the inch.!! Presto! a brighter and more cheerful space. The floor is literally draining the light from your room.

DUST RUFFLE........Why? Below, the entire/ whole cal king bed, navy Zuma linen....999.00 free shipping.!!

    Toile?

    Paisley?

You looooove pattern? How about a trip to pottery barn!!! ^^^

    What ABOUT bedside tables?

    Birch Lane.....29" w, 29" hi

    What about LAMPS?

    "High Sky Blue......Lumens

    What about the windows........?

    Truth??

You need 28 yards to do as below

Why? Because the windows are 30" off the floor. and 72 h

That means 102" to casing top.....

Which means, with hems and headers? Your "cuts" for each of 8 panels equals 126" with a finished length of 108" ( 11' ceiling , too high, ignore the two feet above)

    ( 126 x 8= 1008".DIVIDE by 36" = 28 yards)

Find a nice solid soft white linen/ linen blend... for 30 bucks per yard......and yes, have them made.

Rods and rings? Amazon: ) I will give you a link to what I've used SEVERAL times, cheap, and 100% great!

I do understand you are trying to re use everything. .....Sometimes, if you want great? You can't use it ALL. Up to you: )

The Kaufman fabric, great in the old house, in a super bright bedroom,,,,, doesn't have to drive the design bus....

Maybe @lisevd will mock that up......with the bed in front of the windows: ) : ) That is unless she is saving her strength to PARTY later today?

( to be noted.I have not seen the ball drop on Times Square in a couple of decades......lol)
