All new furniture? What do you have that you ill be using? We need the measurements of what you already own? I would move the TV to the long wall over a console at 25% wider than the TV. I would envision an imaginary line across the room from the end of the slider closest to the counter to the solid wall. Float the sofa centered above that line with enough space to get to the slider. Then center the TV opposite it. A swivel chair on each side of the TV.

Yes, will be getting all new furniture. All i have now is a standard sofa along the long wall with some end tables and a coffe table.

What activities happen in here aside from TV? How many do you want to seat? Do you want it to be all one seating area or do you want two spaces?

It’s the main hang out area in the house. It’s just my wife, my 2 year old and I. Seating for 6 or so would be ideal.

I was thinking a regular sofa with a loveseat and a recliner, I don’t think the space is good for a sectional. Also the slider opens to a 2nd floor deck overlooking a creek.

You want to block off a 12’ x 12’ conversation space by the fireplace/tv for your furniture. That is a comfortable size for talking and watching tv. Will you have barstools at the counter, or do you need a dining space? The room is too big for just one conversation area; it’s dual purpose. Just don’t block access to the slider.
