Squeaking Pipes

The pipes in our 100yo house have started squeaking when in use. One of the toilets on the first floor and a sink on the second. What's the cause? Should I be worried?

Be afraid…..be very afraid🫣

well it could be a number of things. mineral build up, worn washers or sometimes loose pipe straps. Thats the extent of my old plumbing knowledge but I hope that is of some help

@sigrid : can you be more specific than "squeaking when in use"?

A constant noise can be turbulence moving past an obstruction or it can be a chattering valve. Old toilet valves (with ballcock) and old style faucets (with washers, packing nuts, etc.) are usual culprits. Take a picture of the inside of your toilet and also the bathroom sink faucet and post it here.
