Wait until everything in the kitchen is installed, and walls painted. Only then, with all materials in place, do you select a backsplash.

Visit tile stores with samples of your other finishes, and look at tile options together with all your samples. Incidentally, I chose my backsplash first, and designed my kitchen around it. You wouldn’t install a backsplash first, but you can choose it whenever you like.

Excellent advise! I will do as advised. I have made some errors in my previous tile choices. I’d dont want to repeat errors with new errors. Eg. I looked at my bathroom tile horizontally… thinking yes, they’ll work. But when the tile was actually on the bathroom wall it looked completely differently. Wont make that mistake again!

Exactly! The materials will all look different when set on their proper plane.

The only rule is: no more white. TOo much white is cold and sterile. You need color and life. Think greens, blues, burgindies, ocrhres, etc. Whatever your favorite color might be, go look for something interesting in that.

Inspiration images can be a huge help. Google images of kitchens that use your materials and save the ones you like. It might help you narrow down your choices.
