Mom’s bedroom makeover

Looking for ideas/inspiration to modernize my mom’s bedroom - first two photos attached reflect the bedroom currently.

My mom is traditional but also likes modern touches. Colors she leans towards are neutrals and blues.

I’ve done some mock ups of paint colors, wallpaper accent wall, board and batten. The vaulted ceilings with trim make it difficult and everything I’ve made a visual of makes the room look shorter (see 3rd and 4th attached photos).

Open to changing window treatments, bedding, night stands, lighting etc.

Agreed. Cozy + lux is the goal for sure. Love the idea of adding plum/lilac to the color palette. Thank you

First define/narrow down by looking on line (Pinterest and Houzz) so you/she can get a sense of the big picture and how it was achieved and you may be able to save yourself the big job of painting. Be sure to note nightstands, lighting, layered bedding, window treatments, fabrics/color combos, and accessory choices.

I love your blue/lavender mock up. I think you need some drapery to pull it all together and I also suggest removing the mirror over the dresser if not needed and replace with some nice artwork.

The blue walls with trim and molding already looks dated to me. It looks like quality furniture and the bedside tables are nice sized with great drawers. I wouldn't get rid of them.

The last mock up you made is very pretty. Nice bedding and curtains. Imagine two lamps that are like blue and shaped like the vase. That would be a way to mix more contemporary pieces in with her furniture.

I'm going to suggest that the bed is on the wrong wall. Consider aligning the bed with the vaulted tray ceiling painted Mom's favorite blue. Adding trim to outline the angles would add to the charm. Consider peel and stick trim. Your painter could apply when he is up on the ladder.

Change the fan to a chandelier, or a combo chandelier fan.

Could we see the other side of the room? I'm with Judy about changing the layout of the room. It would be nice to be able to look out the windows from the bed.

Switching up the furniture placement is always an easy way to freshen a look. Curtain panels are a must ASAP!!! Any added color would be a welcome addition. If the bed could go on one of the narrow walls perhaps a seating area near the windows could utilize the view. Not many of us hang out in bed with curtains open during the day...but a reading/prayer/coffee spot could be nice.

The wall panels make no sense. The furniture is lovely the fan not so much. I think the blue for a wall color could work just not the panels. It is always good to show the whole space .I alwys like drapes in a bedroom they just make the space feel cozy . I do not like area rugs over broadloom . My advice it go shopping and start with some new bedding that she loves .For me the bedding drives the space decor always . It not only sets the color palette but the style too
