Shade suggestions for black windows

last month

This is not our home, but we will have very similar black trim windows. Our ceilings are not as high as the one pictured, so we would technically be able to reach up and pull down the shades. We will use them primarily at night and plan to keep them completely open during the day. We do not have wood trim around the windows. Please share shade suggestions that work well with this kind of window--preferably something that blends in with the frame (no fabric valances, no drapes). Are there shades with black thin valances? Also, what color would the actual shade need to be? Our walls will be SW Alabaster. The overall decor will be clean and simple. TIA!

I would choose a pull down honey comb pleated blind in a light off white. Unless it bothers you that the top black of the window trim will not show I would not worry about the black at all. If that would bother you then look into a blind that offers a black track with an off white blind and a white bottom track so the black top is consistent.

What do you need from the window coverings? That drives the bus. Seeing some random pic of a space not yours is pretty useless. Is there a view you want to keep? Is there heat and UV to control during the day? Why only at night ? Too much missing info to help IMO. Windowcoverings IMO are chosen for all those reasons I dislke cellular shades IMO they look cheap often. You spent big $$$$ for black framed windows not you need to really think about what you NEED for window coverings .

Hello! We are facing north with mountain views. We will be using them primarily at night for privacy when our lights are on, etc. Ideally, I'd like something that mounts inside the window that is not highly noticeable when they are not being used. The house is under construction, but here is a rendering of what it will look like-- the actual window trim will not be as thick as these renderings and will be more like the sample photo I posted originally. (Please ignore furnishings, etc as this is just a rendering). Thank you!

Is it too late to change to white windows? The dark windows contrasting against the white walls really distracts from the beautiful view.

    Privacy from...........what? Deer?

That said, a Silhouette/Hunter Douglas will allow a HEADRAIL to be different from the fabric of the shade.

The "veins" flatten, roll up to totally "disappear"

With that much window? I'd want them all on battery remote......but yes you can do simple cordless. There are a zillion fabrics/textures, light to dark, and that needs to be considered with your soft furnishings like rugs and upholstery.

Your trim ....I will hope is a lot narrower than your rendering.: ) and ignore the fabric in the pic below, shown down , obviously. Veins as far apart as four inches can also be had.

Truth is........all black windows, the entire look is best.........with NOTHING. I'm sort of over the cover them up issue. They beg "leave me alone" which few consider when they fall in love with the look.

Full SOUTH here, boats all evening long in summer and they remain UN covered. Yup.....the AC bill gets pretty bad. ;)

My choice would be shades that match or are a tone darker than the wall color. This means you may need to find the shades before deciding on wall paint.

I am confused the rendering shows amountain view is that what you have ? If so what privacy is needed at all , the deer maybe . Not real info cannot help you with real solutions. BTW I use 10% solar shades almost always and the darker they are the better the view so charcoal or bronze are my go tos . I like black windows I think they make thescenery look like art.

Thank you @Patricia Colwell Consulting--we do have beautiful mountain views but our home sits ups high and is partially visible from the street. Concern is primarily at night when our lights are on.

I suggest you go out at night and look up you will actually see nothing I lived where all my LR faced the view and up high above the road I did exactly that to see hwat you actually could see and we never closed the drapes . Often privacy issues are mostly in your head and honestly most people do not care what you are doing . This was my LR
