Window treatment for double hung window with bottom a/c
My two bedroom windows (37x72") need a treatment -- upgrade from the temporary paper folding shades planned to last a few weeks that are still there years later! I would prefer a blackout, high-quality textured solution that when open leaves the smallest footprint so I can also see above the buildings to the open sky (rules out Roman shades), and is motorized to be able to fully open to top if relevant.
Dilemma: one window has a bottom a/c not used much that protrudes to 1/2" within the inside edge of frame that I'd like covered by the treatment. Cellular shades may lose the blackout if pulled over the protruding a/c.
Ideas appreciated for treatment, and fabrics. Thanks!

How do you feel about roller style shades? They raise all the way up and are available in black out. If you want motorized, the top rail is where the motor is housed and therefore takes up space.
